The jury selection for the trial of Doris “Dee Dee” Moore (40) has begun in Lakeland, Florida. She is charged with shooting Abraham Shakespeare before burying his body under concrete.

The alleged crime took place in 2009. Moore befriended Abraham Shakespeare (47) after he won $17 million with a lottery ticket. It is alleged that Moore swindled Shakespeare out of his winnings before she killed him.

However Moore denies this saying that she her relationship with the deceased was a professional one. She maintains that she was helping Shakespeare with his finances.

In 2006 Shakespeare won a $30 million jackpot having bought a quick pick lottery ticket. He was sued by his co-worker who claimed that he had stolen the winning ticket from him. The jury sided with Shakespeare and he went home with $17 million after tax.

Shakespeare paid off the mortgages of his friends and family and by 2009 he had spent much of his winnings. Moore said she would help him manage his money and make it last.

In 2010 she said “Every bit of the money was done properly and professionally

“There's no jury that's going to convict me. They're saying that I took a gun, put it up and killed another human being and I would never do that."

Shakespeare was shot in the chest, twice, with a .38-caliber weapon in April 2009. He was not reported missing until November. His body was found on January 28, 2010.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter said, at the time, “There had been a 30-foot-by-30-foot concrete slab that had been poured.

“The human remains had been found about five feet under the concrete.”

The property, where Shakespeare was found, bellowed to Shar Krasniqi, identified as Moore’s boyfriend.

Police say they have video of from a Florida Walmart of Moore rushing to buy duct tape, trash bags and plastic sheeting. Investigators said Moore story began to fall apart as soon as they started to interview her.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told “Good Morning America” “From the very beginning of our investigation, which started seven months after he went missing, we found out she still had Abraham Shakespeare's cellphone and was texting his friends as well as her own cellphone pretending to be Abraham.”

The police say she also made several attempts to make it look like Shakespeare was communicating with his family. She also offered a $200,000 house in exchange for someone reporting a false sighting of Shakespeare. She also sent $5,000 to his son along with text messages for his birthday.

Prosecutors plan to call Gregory Todd Smith to the witness stand. He claims Moore asked him for help in concealing the killing.

If she is found guilty Moore faces life in prison.
