Ireland’s second oldest citizen has died a mere three months before her 107th birthday.

Donegal resident Bridget 'Biddy' McGee passed away over the weekend at Dungloe District Hospital, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

The 106-year-old from Annagry in Donegal had previously revealed the secret to a long life was a good night’s sleep and a daily glass of milk.

She is survived by her two sons, one daughter, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Last October, friends and family gathered, with some travelling from the U.S, to mark McGee’s 106th birthday in Leo’s Tavern, Meenaleck, Donegal.

Ireland’s oldest living person is Mary Kate Byrne from Maganey in County Laois who will celebrate her 108th birthday next month.
