I do not share your views of Barrack Hussein Obama. He is our worst president in the history of the US. He may be liked better overseas than at home. We have visited your country many times and have found my wife's relatives family farm where her great-grandfather grew up.

Woundedknee, been to all the other places. The steps and valleys my great-grandparents walked, and lived are most important to me. I will teach my children of these things, and they can do what the hell they want. Ive' done what I could.

Maybe not expensive if your over-earning the kind of wages & expenses Leo Varadkar and the rest of the government pay themselves. But the popular towns & cites are way to expensive for natives and tourists alike. Only last weekend a friend of mine brought his wife and 2 young children to Galway for the weekend and returned to Dublin after one night because of the mad prices they were charging, just over 500Euro for less the 24 hours in the place. And all these Rip-Off merchants had there VAT rate cut to less than half 8 months ago.

JBRAFTREE | "Ciara, just wondering what species you claim to be a part of?" Good question. Definitely not homo sapiens.

Why would anyone vacation in Ireland? It has nothing to offer. As poster angrypaddy says, far better to go to the Caribbean. Or in my case, Mexico. Now that's a country with a vibrant culture, one that you could spend decades studying. Not like Ireland, which is a pale imitation of England, with US influences badly mixed in but not digested.

Angrypaddy, you have finally admitted that youre not Irish! Brilliant!
Citizen, youre right, prices have gone right down.
Borefield, the Irish dont give a sh1t about Obama except for the hicks in Moneygall who are using the link to him for financial gain and to make money for themselves. The rest of us dont care!
The gathering is just going to be a load of foreigners coming here thinking that theyre part of Ireland when they really arent. Its a money grabbing exercise and those people stupid enough to come over for it deserved to be fleeced.

As someone who travels down quite regularly from Northern Ireland to the Republic for weekend breaks i find it is definitely cheaper than it was just a few years ago. You can get better prices for hotels now and the good exchange rate for the Pound against the Euro at the moment certainly helps. Even the price of a pint of beer in Dublin seems a little bit cheaper than it was (an important part of the budget!).

Ireland's reputation leaves her bottom of the pile.
The prices are insane.
We never go there now.
Other aliens are disgusted at the people of Eire- still supporting the Roman cult.
Also racism is rife in Eire-terrible place .
Gone are the days of Eire of the welcomes- it is all money grabbers now.

Laura Sisson if you think gor a nano second that Barack Obama would attract me to visit Ireland you are badly mistaken! You as an intern for IC needs to research your material a little better. When will the Irish realize the Barack and Michelle Obama really don't give a fiddlers dam for the Irish, other than to use all that pathetic hoopla about him having being spawned by a wayward ancestor and capitalize on it to get votes. Wake up Irish people especially Irish Americans who can vote.
