The big difference is; Bernie's butt is in a cell and will be in a cell for beaucoup years. The Irish don't believe in jailing anyone. Why? It costs money. So O'brien will bet a judicial slap on the wrist, a suspended sentence and his victims will get an O'Brien "Gotcha smile".
