City Council Speaker Christine Quinn continues to hold the lead in the latest poll for this year’s New York City Mayor race.

Quinn, whose grandmother was one of the few Irish survivors from the Titanic, continues to lead the pack among the likely Democratic candidates for September’s primary.

According to the latest Quinnipiac poll out Wednesday, 35 percent of Democratic voters would back Quinn.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio has 11 percent, with 10 percent for former City Comptroller William Thompson and 9 percent for Comptroller John Liu.

Former MTA Chair & CEO Joseph Lhota leads the race as the Republican contender with 23 percent of the vote.

"Council Speaker Christine Quinn still dominates the Democratic field. There is almost no gender gap for any candidate. For example, Quinn gets 36 percent of women and 34 percent of men, while Liu gets 10 percent of men and 9 percent of women,” Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, said in a statement.

The poll suggests that the majority of voters (62 percent) think Quinn is doing a good job in her current role as City Council Speaker.

According to WNYC, Quinn has already reached the maximum of what she can spend in a primary campaign. The Irish American raised more than $450,000 in the last six months. She spent just over $150,000, largely on campaign and fundraising consultants.

From January 8 - 14, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,332 New York City voters with a margin of error of  2.7 percentage points.

My Brotehr in law lives in NYC and has met her. Cheers to her. BTW I find the comment by Bloomberg almost unbelieveable. He's basically a good person even if I disagree with some of his policies. We cant have everyone or everything. To do so would be like the polish parliament in 1939 when it required 100 % of hte members to even prepare for the forth coming nazi invasion.
IC absolutely adores Christine Quinn. Embarrassing slobbering love affair.
