James O’Keefe, a notorious prankster who tries to catch out government employees wasting taxpayer money, has revealed his latest sting which involved dressing up as an IRA gunman and seeking welfare for twenty five fellow gunmen.

O’Keefe is a rock ribbed Republican out to expose government waste.  He gained fame and notoriety by getting public assistance while dressed as a pimp and accompanied by fake prostitutes in one of his recent stings.

In his latest scam he dressed up in a kilt and passed himself off as an IRA gunman who had brought 25 injured gunmen to America to recover from their wounds.  He claimed the men had been injured in a recent gunfight.

He then walked into several public assistance offices in North and South Carolina and asked for Medicaid for his terrorist friends.

In Charleston, South Carolina he was given the forms to fill out and told to come back later.  In another office he was offered assistance to fill out the forms.

The woman he met in Charleston promised not to divulge any of the activities of the men who were shot. She stated that he had a reasonable chance of getting coverage for them.

When O’Keefe asked her to keep news of his terrorist friends secret she said, "It is federal law, and they do threaten high fines -- which they don't pay me as much per year as they threaten to fine me -- so it is definitely not in my own best interest to divulge anything to anyone because I cannot afford it. I do not want to go to jail," she said.

Not one single person in any office he visited questioned whether he was who he said he was, or his outlandish story.

O’Keefe is heard boasting about his “IRA activities” and the men who fought with him.

The woman in South Carolina explains that only U.S. citizens are eligible for Medicaid and says she's not promising the injured gunmen will qualify.

“The way it works with Medicaid is if you are just a visitor to the United States you can't qualify," she says. "If they're going to stay in the United States then we could potentially qualify them for emergency services to cover with their hospitalization." She also tells him that the hospital's charity program might be a better bet.

Throughout his conversation O’Keefe uses an exaggerated Irish brogue and dresses in a kilt to further the image of an IRA terrorist.

GeorgeD - I've never understood why you are on this Irish site. You disparrage and make fun of the Irish people and country. You even visit Ireland. With your negative and obnoxious comments, you must be a real treat when you're over there.
Wow, you liberals hate O'Keefe because he exposed the corruption in Acorn. You would be singing a different tune if he exposed Republican corruption. Then he would be your hero. GeorgeDillon, The people of South Carolina are a little smarter then the people of North Carolina, at least they know how to pronounce, Beaufort. but that is not saying much.
I wonder why he chose South Carolina for this stunt. Savannah Georgia has the best St. Parick's Day parade in the country. It must have the country's best collection of loony Irish.
stephendoyle: If you don't like the Palmetto State maybe you haven't noticed that it's quite easy to leave the state. Cross the Savannah River and you're in Georgia, take I-77 North from Columbia and you're soon in North Carolina. Or better still, jump in the ocean off Hilton Head and swim for a month or too and you're back with your fellow morons in Ireland. Of course, don't go to Dublin because "the Civil War started there".
What a hoot!
Well said Rugbyplayer, well said...
I see that there are a lot of Acorn suporters here. Good on you O'keefe, keep up the good fight.
What the hell has traditional Scottish dress got to do with the IRA? Absolutely nothing. Should have been hiding behind a mask like real IRA cowards.
Enjoy the gag for what it is!
Never saw an IRA member wearing a kilt. And I knew quite a few.
stephendoyle I agree this South Carolina is an great embarrassment to many of its residents --all the religious based bigotry propounded by the Southern Baptist Churches, unfair discrimination against blacks, hispanics, gay people and the list goes on and on, Bob Jones University's bigotry which they try to justify by hiding it behind religion among other such things. That is why I love California--nice climate, not as much bigotry, chance of fair wages, and equality.
simplesandy Just because a guy wears a kilt does not mean he is gay. I take your comments as a gay slur and a sign that you are a narrow minded bigot and furthermore would not even recongize a gay person even if some of the more "masculine" ones told you so. FYI It is a very proud honorable custom to wear kilts in Ireland, Scotland and Britan and they are for business wear as well as formal occaisions. FYI not only here but in Greece, traditional male wear is what you might call skirts pumped up with a number of pettycoats (want to see this--go to the Unkown Soldiers tomb in Athens, Greece. I would like to suggest that you attend the Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain, N.C. and elsewhere. I would suggest that you get out of your simplemindedness and do some traveling as well as learing about what the world is like.
There is really no such thing as an "Irish kilt". Such a garment has no history before the beginning of the 20th century, when certain canny tartan manufacturers began flogging them to gullible Irish Americans.
Well, joke or no joke--- while I believe the State of South Carolina et al is acting in error. I resent this after all because American Citizens, many of whom are without jobs (jobless rate is 10% (highest in US) and climbing) in need food stamps or are being cut, their medicade and medicare threatened with being cut off or reduced led by the first female Governor in this State and to boot--- Social Security being cut. So what the *** are these states trying to help out foreign terrorists which is a violation of Federal Law if not State Law---where the **** is TSA hereand why are they not doing their job---to keep out terrorists---while we have to go through **** at the airports to travel within this country forget foreign ones. We have enough problems with Hispanic illegals getting funding that they are not entitled to. It is strange when I wanted to enroll at a University there after getting a seat at Cambridge--I had to put up some 100k bond for immigration folks to prove I would not be a burden on British or Irish Governments. The end of the story is that I could not attend because I did not have that kind of money. Now if Britain and Ireland give me the same benefits ---I would be happy to change my attitude but generally they will not. I will say that the folks in charge of these offices will hear about this if they have not already. I wish to thank Ms Kelley for reporting this.
Can't stand O'Keefe. Not keen on that sort of Republican, especially not a prankster like him. As for the getup, WTH is he wearing on his head? That sporran is an evening one, BTW, although HollaBackGurl's comment isn't quite right. You do see Irish kilts worn without a sporran, whereas Scots never go without one, but most do wear one, just not one that looks like that unless they are in evening dress or in a pipe band. AdrienRain is right that Irish kilts are normally solid colours, usually either green or saffron. Tartan is more Irish American, but that is probably the Irish National tartan. As for the pearls comment, LOL! I'm not sure I'd want to wear a kilt in a poor black neighbourhood, unless there really was a gun in that case he's carrying!
