It’s over one month since Hurricane Sandy battered the east coast of the US and claimed the lives of 135 people here.

The category one hurricane has been blamed for $62 billion in damage and other losses in the US.  According to the Huffington Post it is the second-costliest storm in U.S. history after 2005's Hurricane Katrina, which caused $128 billion in damages.

Tens of thousands of residents are still without power as IrishCentral ask New Yorkers, if they think the Federal and local Government has done enough to help those affected by the storm.

The government's first priority was to get the businesses up and running, again. They accomplished that part well in the downtown area. A re-doubling of effort to help the Rockaways and Staten Island residents is what should be going on now before it gets any colder. God Bless the hearts of all those Irish and other volunteers who helped clean & repair homes in those hardest hit areas.
