It has nothing to do with the Troubles. The Right to Death crowd started their nonsense during the same period. You know the Right to Death's arguement, "Granny has the right to end her life with dignity." Nice arguement, but it can promote Suicide in people, who are depressed. Of course the Right to Death's people would argue that less people is better.
Eight out of the top 10 countries in the world with the highest suicide rates are Eastern European countries.Wonder why that is. Doesn't seen easy to find a reason for it. The only thing i can come up with is, judging by the Eastern European's in Ireland is they just don't do much humour..I have yet to see an Eastern European laugh out loud in public..They seem to take life to serious or something. See i can get humour out of anyone even old people like Creakygate lol
I remember reading, years ago, a study of why the suicide rates dropped during the Troubles. It had something to do with depressed people - especially males - feeling that they were part of a larger suffering community, suffering with a righteous purpose, rather than feeling isolated and useless, their troubles strictly their own and of no importance.
"Identity Crisis", so it is.
University of Maine? Please explain the link between UofMaine and Queen's Univ.
