The Queen of England finally came face to face with a violent protest in Ireland today – as a horse kicked out in anger at the National Stud in County Kildare.

One of the country’s top stallions reared up on his hind legs within yards of the Queen as she visited the world renowned stud farm.

The horse succeeded where dissident Republicans have failed all week by showing dissent to the Royal party.

The Queen, a noted horse enthusiast, was cool as can be as the horse reared up during her morning tour of the County Kildare establishment that is worth millions to the Irish economy.

She also met with students from the Irish Racing Academy at the nearby Curragh racecourse and chatted with some of Ireland’s top national hunt trainers.

The wayward horse is the only unhappy camper to come into contact with the Queen of England as Irish police again mount a massive security operation on the third day of her four day visit.

Later this afternoon, the Queen and the British Ambassador to Ireland will host a party at Dublin’s new National Convention Centre.

Entertainment for the 2,000 guests – drawn from the world of business, showbiz and sport – will be provided by Westlife, Riverdance and X-Factor sensation Mary Byrne.

A fashion show at the Centre will also feature work by Ireland’s top designers, many of whom export to Britain.

Day three of the Queen’s visit was overshadowed by the death of former Irish Prime Minister Garret Fitzgerald on Thursday morning.

The English monarch joined those who paid tribute to the former Fine Gael leader.

“I was saddened to hear this morning’s news of the death of the Garret FitzGerald, a true statesman. He made a lasting contribution to peace and will be greatly missed,” said the Queen.

What a silly piece of writing that mischaracterises a temperamental horse as "violent protest". The queen is very familiar with horses and was completely relaxed and unbothered as one can see so easily in the video. Anyone who knows horses would be unafraid of a bit of rearing, as long as no small children are present who could be hurt by falling hooves.
What a gracious 85 year old lady Queen Elizabeth is, God bless her. The ignorance displayed by some of the comments on this website to her visit is inexcusable. Do some Irish people ALWAYS have to be so ignorant and uncultured. Shame on you people. As an Irish person I in no way relate to you as fellow country people, or indeed excuse you. Open your minds and pray to end your HATE and BITTERNESS. It is quite disgusting and mainly due to a lack of education.
Sham: I rest my case. Very funny... but you have a durty mind. Say three "Our Fathers" ... at least!
Well aside for an obvious reason why the horse reared up on her, there is another one. She is dstantly related to Catherine The Great - maybe the horse saw a family resemblance, ya know what I mean...............
Well at least an 'Irish Equine' wasn't afraid to say what he really thought of her 'Majesty', 'Get out before I trample the S--t out of you'.
Good Queen Bess must have a good few shillings left in her meter is she can get a stud stallion interested! .................... Seriously, anyone can see the groom was 'banging' his mouth to make him rear up. This is a method of displaying his 'wedding tackle' to any prospective client. I am sure she might have seen better!
That horse knows a Rat when he see it. Just too bad he did not crush it!!
She was in no danger from the horse she was miles away from her it didn't seem to faze her
Ha Ha Ha,..God bless that horse!!
Rears up on queen...what a great headline Cathal. jasus, she was at least 15ft away.

Big deal. Not unusual for high-spirited stallions to rear up. Horses have been seen rearing and kicking when there was no Queen in sight. A real horsewoman/man would remain cool. I grew up with Mr. Fiesty whose daily routine included rearing and kicking - lots of energy. He sired some beautiful colts and fillys.
Horse? With security so tight I would not be surprised if it were two MI5 operatives in a horse costume.Looks like the bloke wearing the rear end had a muscle spasm.
