The nephew of New York heiress Robin Archer Moles is contesting that Cork-born Elsie McCarthy, his aunt’s health aide, was left the elderly woman’s $8 million fortune.

Mole’s nephew, Christopher Ljungkull, had been the sole heir to her estate in a 1974 will. His aunt died in 2009, aged 70. He claims his aunt was frail and an alcoholic. The New York Appeals court has ordered that a trial be held to test the validity of the 2007 will overruling a lower court finding.

Moles, the heiress of the food conglomerate Archer Daniels Midland, and a former theatrical producer, signed over her fortune to McCarthy. With Niels Lauersen, a disbarred doctor who was Mc Carthy’s friend, as a witness, and his own matrimony lawyer overseeing proceedings, Moles signed over her fortune.

Speaking to New York Daily News at her Upper East Side apartment, McCarthy insisted there is nothing untoward about the change of Moles’ will.

The west Cork woman said, “I have three houses. They’re all on the water.”

McCarthy told the press that she is fighting cancer. She also said that she’s looking forward to receiving her inheritance so she can “do the things that Robin wanted - like open soup kitchens.”

Court records show that Jefferey Suazzo, a videographer who was present during the 2007 will signing, said Moles was “not there” mentally that day. He said, “The lights are on but there’s no bulb.”

A transcript of the event shows Moles in a confused state. She gets confused over the name of the President and the date.

She also said she was leaving McCarthy her fortune “because I adore her”.

Niels Lauersen (74), McCarthy’s friend and witness to the 2007 will, was once a Park Avenue gynecologist to the stars. Known as the “Dyno Gyno”, he worked as a fertility specialist for stars such as Celine Dion and Liv Ullman. However, he has also served jail time for insurance fraud.
