As Irish American congressman Rep. Peter King prepares for his next round of hearings on the the radicalization of the Muslim-American community, members of New York organizations expressed their opposition yesterday.
King, the Long Island congressman who heads the House Homeland Security Committee has schedules his latest hearing for today in Washington, which will focus on the radicalization in U.S. prisons. He has said he will call on several law enforcement experts to testify on recent examples of terrorist recruitment among inmates.
“This is a real concern; this is a real issue," King told the Associated Press after a press conference hosted by the Long Island Neighbors for American Values.
The group includes religious leaders and civic groups who maintain that King’s hearings are promoting negative stereotypes.

"Unfortunately, these people are living in denial," King said. "Al-Qaida is attempting to recruit in our country and it is a reality we cannot afford to hide from."
"If we found anyone in our community committing an act of terrorism, by the time the police got there the matter would be settled and there would be one less terrorist," he said.
Sister Jeanne Clark of Long Island, maintains she has served prison time for acts of disobedience, said King’s focus on prisons was misguided.
"Language is important," she said. "Prisoner, Muslim, radicalized terrorism. Saying these words together in a sentence instills fear and mistrust."
The next hearing after today’s will likely be held in July and will focus on reports of Americans joining al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula.

Rants like yours should be flushed down a toilet, your !6 whole weeks are a holiday compared to 3 half years experience, is exactly that a pathetic holiday and does not justify your rant against Peter king, morons like you do not know what a racist is
seanomelbourne | Jun 20, 2011, 07:44 PM EDT
MY time in the middle east was not a holiday moron.Your pathetic ramblings are garbage and should be consigned to a large bin and don't forget to close the lid on yourself.Like you King is a racist.
paddyRanger | Jun 20, 2011, 08:03 AM EDT
now now son, you are losing it totally, "As are you"son"" is not only a nonsense reply but also a cowardly copying one, really son, I advised you already refrain from posting when you have nothing intelligent to say. You started out with attacking Peter King, by implying you know better than he because you spent 16 WHOLE weeks in the middle east, the article does not mention the middle east and anyone with intelligence knows you can not discuss muslims purely based on 16 pitiful weeks in the middle east, muslims are from Asia, Africa, even muslim countries in Europe besides the middle east, and I have spent time in 3 muslim countries in Africa, middle east and europe, 3 and half years experience as opposed to your little 16 week holiday, you then try and bale out your pathetic excuse for post by, falsely accusing me of being an American who has never had a passport, then when that backfires on you, you resort to "oh your just a grunt who never left compound/barracks" again showing yuor total lack of knowledge as there were no compounds or barracks in either Chad or the Lib.........in other words son its past your bedtime, you better run of like a good little fellow......
seanomelbourne | Jun 19, 2011, 09:40 PM EDT
As are you"son"
paddyRanger | Jun 19, 2011, 10:48 AM EDT
My blood pressure is fine son. You should refrain from talking about things you clearly have no clue about
seanomelbourne | Jun 18, 2011, 09:04 PM EDT
I know where Chad is I was in Ghadame not far from the Chadian border in 06. Watch that blood pressure your loosing it (and the argument).
paddyRanger | Jun 18, 2011, 07:17 AM EDT
and you do not even know where libanon (Lebanon if you prefer that spelling) is totally prat
paddyRanger | Jun 18, 2011, 07:16 AM EDT
what a moron, you do not even know where Chad is........its right below LIBYA....and it is a 55-60% muslim country relevant to the article above, really your ignorance shines through...........first you LIE and invent that I am an American, who never had a passport, then you try and justify your BS with I am just a grunt, stop brain farting and jumping to conclusions...........for the record, we lived in LEBANESE houses with LOCALS so where did you invent this crap about compounds? another one of your moron comments,
seanomelbourne | Jun 17, 2011, 10:29 PM EDT
Since when was Chad the middle east moron.I bet you never spent much time outside of your barracks. You never spent 16 weeks living outside your compound it would not be allowed.Your just a border control expert, a grunt taking orders.BTW where's libanon?
paddyRanger | Jun 17, 2011, 12:51 PM EDT
seanomelbourne....now who is the ignorant prat, I am not American, never said I was, I also did 2 tours of Libanon thats 12 MONTHS not 16 pitiful weeks in the middle east, and almost a year in Chad ! without a doubt have more knowledge of the middle east in my BIG TOE than you have in the pea brain of yours !
seanomelbourne | Jun 16, 2011, 09:15 PM EDT
I stayed in Libya for 16 weeks.Your ignorance of the middle east is accepted and you are obviously criticizing something you know nothing about.I doubt if you ever held a passport,as is typical of most Americans.
paddyRanger | Jun 16, 2011, 02:47 PM EDT
you did not live properly in any of those countries seanomelbourne, you are a visitor on long stay PERIOD, try moving to afghanistan for good and spare us your BS
Gearoid4 | Jun 16, 2011, 07:10 AM EDT
While I am very much against stereotyping and scapegoating of minority communities, Congressman Peter King must have some inside information as head of Homeland Security which makes him suspect the radicalization of inmates by extremist religious elements within the US penal system. Would IC be highlighting such a scenario if it was happening to e.g the US Catholic community. I think not
seanomelbourne | Jun 16, 2011, 02:10 AM EDT
I have mariner Libya in fact found them to be friendly and courteous as I did in Egypt and the Emirates, but then I was not a a bigoted American telling the world how better off we are than you.People will respect you as you respect them regardless of race.
mamaginnty | Jun 15, 2011, 08:55 PM EDT
JamTheCat..I don't think you are supposed to mention the brotherhood, they are white people.
OldMariner | Jun 15, 2011, 07:55 PM EDT
Hello seanomelbourne, We're bigots? How about living as a non-muslim in one of their countries and notice how your quality of life deteriorates ("dhimmitude") - that's if you are allowed to live.
seanomelbourne | Jun 15, 2011, 07:15 PM EDT
The racist bigots are crawling from under the refrigerator to spew there hate and loathing.
PiperMac52 | Jun 15, 2011, 06:17 PM EDT
God Bless Peter King. The only politicain with the cahones to tell it like it is. A recent study showed that 85% of mosques are breeding grounds for jihadist terrorism. Radicla Islam.org We need to protect ourselves through vigilance and monitor those potential groups.
OldMariner | Jun 15, 2011, 05:01 PM EDT
I don't what more it takes for Rep. King's detractors to wake up to the fact that our country, and others that harbors muslims, have a demonstrable fifth-column situation at hand. Actions and deeds have shown muslims to be ill-fitted to live in democratic societies. Keep up the good work Rep. King, this inquiry has long been overdue.
maloney | Jun 15, 2011, 04:21 PM EDT
Mr. King.. you are a patriot!!!!
antoman | Jun 15, 2011, 03:45 PM EDT

Searlit | Jun 15, 2011, 03:29 PM EDT
You're too funny antoman! What are crubeens? I'm almost afraid to ask...
peterson | Jun 15, 2011, 02:13 PM EDT
Most terrorist ARE Muslims !!
SeamusMor | Jun 15, 2011, 01:05 PM EDT
Terrorism, not Islam, is the focus of Rep. King's inquiry. If the Boy Scouts were bein recruited a suicide bombers he would be investigating them. It just happens that some Muslims are plotting jihad and recruiting adherents in Mosques. Congressman King did not invent 9/11 to justify a crusade against Muslims, he's just trying to prevent further acts of terror. We should be grateful.
paddyRanger | Jun 15, 2011, 12:47 PM EDT
The Aryan brotherhood did not fly into the twin towers, or the pentagon, but then a self-serving wee jerk like you ignores that fact ! janthecat
manhattan | Jun 15, 2011, 11:43 AM EDT
Good for Peter King , he is no bigot just someone who gets to the truth of the matter. He is a good an honest politician which is so rare. Sister Clark has lived a very sheltered life and is so well meaning but naive.
antoman | Jun 15, 2011, 10:32 AM EDT
Drink hearty.Eat a bag of crubeens.Leap about the place like your boots were on fire and make love to your woman like she was the last of her tribe.Thats how us Celts roll.
jamthecat | Jun 15, 2011, 10:20 AM EDT
Selective hate is always exposed for what it truly is -- bigotry. The Aryan Brotherhood is just as strong, if not stronger, in US Prisons as any Muslim group, but somehow I doubt this self-serving little jerk-off will address that.
LinLinisme | Jun 15, 2011, 10:01 AM EDT
Thank you congressman Peter King--we need more people to stand with you. We do not need or want the muslim in America. Good for you, Peter King, don't give in to the people who can't see what is going on in the world today. Thank you
cillowen | Jun 15, 2011, 10:00 AM EDT
he shudda 'av done it with the black panters and hater proddies of NI.
LinLinisme | Jun 15, 2011, 09:58 AM EDT
Of course, the muslims have been recruiting in the prisons for many years. But, they teach the prisoners only about LOVE and PEACE. The do not teach the jihad and the terror that these muslims are. The prisoners have no choice but to believe and they don't know any better. Once released hopefully they may realize that the muslims are taking over the world. Horrible to ever think about muslime in America. America listen up and understand that this is a religion of terror.
BishopSean | Jun 15, 2011, 08:31 AM EDT
Years back, I worked as a counselor in Trenton State Prison, which is maximum security. Black muslims had a group there. They situated themselves at the school entrance with a poster; one half was about Christianity, with drawings of KKK lynching blacks. The other half, naturally, was Islam, with a drawing of peace among blacks. They were aggressive. They finally had some division among themselves and a number of them killed one another. There are many peace-loving muslims. I know because I lived in muslim countries for almost 12 years. But Islam, unlike Christianity, disbelieves in freedom of expression, freedom of conscience and freedom of religion. The latter Two-thirds of the Qur'an abrogate (naskh=override) the first third, which talks about Islam being the religion of tolerance. Islam must win world dominion, firstly by diplomatic means (including deceit and lies) and then when necessary by coersion and force. So, Islam is unlike other religions in the USA and so unless and until Muslims can modify their religion (similar to what top Mormon did some years back, thanks to a Special Revelation), we need people like Rep. Peter King to have a serious look at what is being taught in Mosques in USA.
