U.S. conservative Glenn Beck defended his comparing of the teenagers at the Norwegian summer camp, where 68 young people were killed, to Nazi Germany’s Hitler Youth on his national radio show Tuesday.
He defends his remarks by saying that if we if we cannot use Hitler analogies in "logical conversation," "We are going to be a society of gas chambers."
During Tuesday’s program the conversation led to Beck’s co-host making a comment saying: “the point here is not to say they have gas chambers being built in Kansas,” as the two spoke about the U.S debt crisis. Beck quickly interrupted his co-host, and stopped him from going further with the comment.
“Don’t start. Don’t even start. If you can’t say… If we’re living in a society where we can’t say X in the same paragraph as Y and not be told we are comparing it… as a society we are doomed” he said loudly to his co-host.
Beck then followed by saying that the restrictions on making Hitler and Nazi comparisons would mean that the U.S. is “going to be a society of gas chambers.”

Beck made the statement in response to his original comment in the aftermath of the Anders Behring Breivik’s attack in Norway, causing a media frenzy. In his original comment he said:
“There was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like the Hitler youth, or, whatever. I mean, who does a camp for kids that’s all about politics. Disturbing,” he originally said.
Glenn Beck is known as an outspoken Fox News right-wing pundit and is often criticized by the media for his remarks.
In Tuesday’s program, Beck also likened President Obama’s position on the debt crisis to Hitler’s, saying that the Nazi government blamed the Weimar Republic for inheriting a “bad situation,” reported the Journal.

The literate conservatives sat on their hands and watched the rise of the tea party. They now regret the extreme right wing monster they helped create. The backtracking of the usual suspects on Fox is tittelating.

Glen Beck like Bill O'Reilly need to be sent off to their own little island where they can talk each other to death without harrassing others. Glen Beck before he left the night talk show scene got on a religion kick that was highly offensive as he compared all of the problems to Biblical prophesy. He like O'Reilly feel only their diabtribe is correct and if you disagree they will just out talk/out shout you.

The fact that there are people who listen to him and believe every word that he says without bothering to read the original sources that he erroneously quotes and then erroneously applies to current news events is so much scarier than that the media give him a platform and pay him to spout his lies. I have tried to ignore him but my, other wise quite rational, conservative friends keep quoting him and I am getting tired of explaining reality to them. It is like the right side of America has had their water supply hooked up to a poitin (poteen) still. Where is the cool headed rationalism of Mr. Buckley and "Firing Line" to put the Birchers back in their cages? Why are those literate, intelligent conservatives just sitting on their hands?

Why do people pay attention to this creature? He is obviously unhinged and a danger to anyone capable of coherent thought.

Beck conducts his own youth camps called "liberty camps" the sanctimonious conservative neo nazi hypocrite.

It is a mistake to call Glenn Beck a "conservative." Winston Churchill was a Conservative; Barry Goldwater was a Conservative, Glenn Beck is a mental patient, who has developed a following among the ignorant, the deluded and the similarly deranged. He will say any outrageous thing that keeps people talking about him, because without the amplification of outrage, he is an empty microphone. There are a great many important topics in this world, none of them bears any rational relationship to this looney tune, who couldn't even keep a job at FOX New. You know that when you're act is too sleazy for Rupert Murdock, you have truly hit bottom.

This man is not only disgustingly vile, he is utterly ignorant as he obviously does not understand the nature of the Hitler Youth. Why does Irish Central give Glenn Beck a forum for his verbal vomit? There is nothing "Irish" about this story.
trgngsteroflove | Jul 28, 2011, 12:52 PM EDT
It is worthy of note that Glenn Beck is employed by Fox News, which is owned by NewsCorp, the umbrella organization of fake and scandal news services controlled by Rupert Murdoch. There was a time before Rupert Murdoch and NewsCorp. There will be a time after. The same goes for Glenn Beck. This kind of silliness is a temporary phenomenon, and has had a long phase of ascendancy. That phase is likely over. There are many millions of disturbed, twisted people on this planet. Rupert Murdoch has become a billionaire by serving their needs for hatred, scapegoating, deception, titillation and scandal. We are now moving into a phase of reset, refreshing the screen, so to speak. It will be fun to watch.

Genn Beck's comments were taken out of context! Get real. He is one commentator that tells the truth and you, who don't like him probably voted for OBama.

@Liam3494 posting at 9:50AM is right. What possible tie does this bottom feeding entertainer have with Irish Central's goals? In passing, the hypocrit himself is associated with an organization which sponsors childrens' camps .... which present a political agenda.
donal1951 | Jul 28, 2011, 10:19 AM EDT
Glenn Beck is an amadan.
