The Irish American Republicans group have praised the “historic and substantive meeting” held by Governor Mitt Romney and Prime Minister Enda Kenny at the Irish Embassy in London.
“Gov Romney has pledged to put the Irish Peace Process back on top of the US President's foreign policy agenda. After four years of Obama's neglect and broken promises on Ireland, it is time for a change," stated Grant Lally, Co-Chair of the Irish American Republicans.
"Four years ago, Barack Obama made a lot of empty promises about keeping the United States involved with Northern Ireland - and then broke all his promises - displaying an arrogance and "who cares" attitude, that shows Obama's contempt for Irish America.
"Obama never appointed a US Envoy for the Northern Ireland Peace Process, and - only after Secretary Hillary Clinton was embarrassed by Obama's broken promises - did she briefly appoint an "economic envoy," which post has now been vacant for nearly 18 months. It is obvious that Obama just does not care about Ireland or the 45 million Irish Americans," concluded Lally.
"Today's historic meeting between Gov. Mitt Romney and Taoiseach Enda Kenny was a serious policy meeting, arranged by Mitt Romney's chief foreign policy advisor, former US Special Envoy for Northern Ireland, Ambassador Mitchell Reiss. Gov. Romney will re-engage the United States in the critical work of the Irish Peace Process," stated Jeffrey Cleary, Co-Chair of the Irish American Republicans.
"Mitchell Reiss is already a historic figure in Ireland. He negotiated the St Andrews Agreement, reconvened the Northern Ireland Assembly, secured the devolution of policing to Northern Ireland, and brought the first-ever Sinn Fein-DUP Executive to power," stated Cleary.
"Mitchell Reiss has been praised by all Northern Irish leaders - from Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness, to the Rev. Ian Paisley - for his careful, thoughtful work for Northern Ireland," added Lally. "If you want to see what Gov. Mitt Romney's Irish policy will be - just look to the successes of his top advisor, Ambassador Reiss."
The Irish American Republicans (www.IrishGOP.com) are a national coalition of Irish Americans in the Republican Party, originally founded in 1868. They have played a leading role in elections across the United States, and have been dubbed by Sean Hannity as "the GOP's Delta Force." In 2008, Ambassador Mitchell Reiss received the Irish American Republican's annual Man of the Year award.

I wonder why it was not published Briano!! maybe IC were saving you from embarrassment and ridicule.LOL
BrianO | Aug 09, 2012, 01:12 PM EDT
Seano more than ten times I have posted facts to substantiate Mr Romneys intellect and it has not been published,
seanomelb | Aug 07, 2012, 06:40 PM EDT
you deliberately misread my post. I never said intellect was not measurable. I ask again "If you think Romney is intellectually superior to Obama then substantiate it with facts" Put up or shut up.
BrianO | Aug 07, 2012, 10:20 AM EDT
Seano, 10:45 should have been attributed to Briano, no matter, your response would be to ignore the facts.
seanomelb | Aug 06, 2012, 07:08 PM EDT
Put your name up and I'll answer your post.No guts no glory.
seanomelb | Aug 05, 2012, 10:45 AM EDT
Intellect is not measurable? so in other words if a brilliant person doesn't agree with your view they lack intellect.
seanomelb | Aug 03, 2012, 07:01 PM EDT
Briano the question was "has Romney got the Intellect to be POTUS" if you think Romney is intellectually superior then substantiate it. Then we can move on and discuss Obama. And remember intellect is not measured in academic scores.
BrianO | Aug 03, 2012, 11:36 AM EDT
Seano intellect? Was Obama's GPA 3.97? Was Obama accepted to harvard business and law school? Did Obama graduate with Honors from harvard?
EphraimKibbey | Aug 02, 2012, 11:34 PM EDT
Statesman's prime directive - Above all else, do no harm. DO NOT LET ROMNEY ANYWHERE NEAR THE PEACE PROCESS!

One of the hall marks of a good philosopher king or president, (according to Plato in his 'Republic'), was that the ideal candidate was the one seemed who want it the least. Previous republican candidates have not been any more famed for their diplomatic skills than HM EIIR's royal consort - HRH Prince Phillip ('Phil-the-Greek'). Why should Mitt-the-Geek be a better old Anglo-Saxonian. Political establishments in liberal democracies (Ireland - UK - USA) don't tend to require Mensa (ie above average intelligence) candidates who might twig (ie cop onto) what the game plan is. Modern day leaders are glorified ventroloquists dummies of the bankster classes - with all due deference to MitRom! Rem GWB?

So,once again we find the totally out of touch with reality GOP/Tea Party Romneybots totally ignoring the total embarassment Weird Willard Mittens & Ann Romney made out of theirselves in the UK and in Isreal,so no small wonder that the out of touch with reality Republican Party will soon become totally extinct as the dinosaurs.

Did the Taoiseach ASK Romney to appoint a US Envoy for the Peace Process if Romney is elected? Is the Taoiseach unhappy with Obama's level of interest in the peace process? I have not heard that Enda Kenny has complained about Obama's "neglect" of Ireland. What's the other side of the story here? I suspect that Lwaoise has it right, that active US involvement is not needed and would be counter-productive at this point. If a need for US help arises and the parties ask for help, who better than Bill Clinton for Obama to send to help with transition planning? And probably Bill would take on the task with enthusiasm.
eiriamach | Jul 31, 2012, 09:35 AM EDT
irishpjk, to make such an asinine statement as you have made, utterly devoid of substantiation, means that you are either profoundly ignorant or despicably racist. I suspect you're both.
LwaoiseNíMhaol | Jul 31, 2012, 12:19 AM EDT
irishpjk???? Um ooh where to start....you do realize Ireland is much more to the left anyway? And the peace process has been accomplished..the best thing America could do now is simply give it time to settle. Neither Romney or Obama will do anything for Ireland at all largely because Irish Americans don't really connect to Ireland or care or know what is going on. I get the impression that they would not really like the Irish hre in Ireland to day and would have little in common with us.The Peace process is done. The most pressing thing is what Germany chooses to do and America can't do anything there. Americans should just choose a candidate best for them and stop the theatrics like trips to poland etc it looks silly...Only a day or so ago this site was proclaiming that the Peace process could never have happened under Romney as his advisors proclaimed him 'ANGLO SAXON ' and he cliamed the white house had Anglo Saxon heritage...i did not think the White House had a race....anyway after that slight i don't think an Irish person would vote for Romney after such an obvious insult to Irish people and all of non Anglo Saxon descent....it is wrong to draw up race lines like that...Obama went out of his way to reach out to different communities at least...neither candidate is great to be honest...but Obama is better and the left is more in touch with Irish political culture past and present.
seanomelb | Jul 30, 2012, 11:49 PM EDT
One only has to ask the Question! "has Romney got the intellect to be POTUS"?? and the answer is no.
irishpjk | Jul 30, 2012, 11:35 PM EDT
wtf Any self-respecting Irish man who would take a look back it his roots should be embarrassed to vote for Obama, he stands for everything our fore fathers were against. Nuff said
irishpjk | Jul 30, 2012, 09:25 PM EDT
For the life of me I cannot understand why Romney wants to be president. He is so utterly unsuited to the office and shockingly uncomfortable in the role of politician. His everyday language is bizarre. The moment he goes off script he is lost like a babe in the woods, clueless, senselessly offending people and nations and saying unbelievably stupid things. He needs to be a good politician - think Reagan, Tip O'Neill, Clinton, the Kennedys who all loved the to and fro of retail politics. Romney visibly detests it - and is no good at it. Good God! does he want this job for the power and the perks, that he's somehow deserving? He's not. He really isn't ready for prime time and he never will be. lokionline, I share your observation. We Irish are often a contradiction and a paradox: We can be progressive, liberal, compassionate ... and we can also be racist, bigoted, reactionary ... and proud Tea Party types.

Seanomelb, me thinks tis YOU that is misinformed, as for bored, look in the mirror
seanomelb | Jul 30, 2012, 06:30 PM EDT
Boring borefield and his pearls of misinformation and petty narrow views.

When Obama made a fool of himself and the American people by giving the Queen a set of DVD's that were not compatible with English VCR's, very thoughtful , right! And Michelle glammed her large arm around the Queen as she towered over her, I saw very little press for their poor classless behavior. Biased people are so narrow minded.
borefield | Jul 30, 2012, 12:49 PM EDT
Lokionline, what' a shame the Obama A- kissers can only read Headlines! And all of them are left wing spin.
borefield | Jul 30, 2012, 12:43 PM EDT
This is the way Romney should have behaved with the Brits - low key and respectful. To criticize the London Olympic Games on the eve of the event shows appalling judgement, irrespective of the merit of such claims. He richly deserved his spanking by Cameron and Boris.
lokionline | Jul 30, 2012, 11:08 AM EDT
I was under the impression that Richard Salisbury Williamson was Romney's Chief foreign advisor with some help from Dan Senor.
Where did this idea that Mitchell Reiss is Romney's Chief foreign advisor come from?
lokionline | Jul 30, 2012, 10:49 AM EDT
I find it depressing to see how many Irish descendents have become Tea Party types. The right wing of the republican party that Romney has been licking up to is practically and universally distrusted in Ireland.
You may be able to find one two badly informed Irish pundits who will make positive sounds about Romney but the vast, vast majority of Irish distrust this man.
