Wouldn't you know the GOP and its nativist apologists would be all over this bill? They're content to exploit Ireland for its tax rates as their corporations make a killing, but the weather changes when the Irish ask for a favor themselves.
We have many IT Professionals in the USA now that are unemployed. We don't need to import any talent in this area. We have tens of thousands of young people in this area who are out of work. We must take care of our own before we try to rescue others.
What no complaints about Charles Schumer linking this issue to that of the much bigger issue of uncapping visas for hi-tech workers from China and India. Schumer is the villian here.
I cannot understand where Senator Grassley is coming from. He's done a fine job, along with Rep. Issa of California in investigating the walking of guns by BATFE from the USA to Mexico. But on the Irish immigration, he's wrong, along with blocking high-tech visas for Indians and Chinese.
Grassley has been a one way S.O.B for a long time. Blocked shipping midwest grain (grown with govt subsidy) on American ships because it cost $0.10 more per ton than third world ship. The rub in this deal is that American kids are working for $7.00 and hour, while Irish illegals are working for $18 to $20 in the building trades in the US. How would this play out in Ireland if this situation was reversed. Americans have no options, Canada will not admit them, nor will anyone else. The Irish have their choice of at least twenty five countries to work. The Irish are in a much better position in every respect, so lets stop the whining.
Grassley is the same senator blocked healthcare and forced a watered down version after originally supporting healthcare. Grassley is beholden to the bigots of the tea party.
holy spellcheck, batman!
