The adopted son who killed his twin brothers in a brutal knife attack in Cork and then committed suicide is to be buried in a separate grave.

Jonathon O’Driscoll, 21, stabbed his nine-year-old brothers Patrick and Thomas to death in the family home last Thursday before taking his own life in a wooded area some eight miles away.

The family have confirmed, via a death notice, that the remains of the three brothers will be taken to their local church together on Sunday afternoon.

The twins will be buried side by side in Charleville on Monday while Jonathan will be buried five miles away in Kilmallock Cemetery in Limerick.

The Irish Sunday Mirror reports that the twins will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, Charleville, north Cork.

The paper adds that a death notice published online by the family reveals that Jonathan will be buried separately in Kilmallock Cemetery.

Police investigating the murder-suicide have confirmed that Jonathan had been remanded on bail on knife charges just two days before he killed the twins.

It is believed he stabbed the nine-year-olds over a dozen times each with three knives.

Local priest Fr Tom Naughton has described the ‘incredible sadness and raw emotion’ felt by the family.

He told the Sunday Mirror: “It’s an incredibly sad time for the family and the whole community. I had met Jonathan on a couple of occasions and he was a quiet, well-mannered young man on those occasions.

“The immediate family are grieving. Of course they are very emotional at the minute which you can well understand."
