A Donegal park manager says he has found the face of Jesus in a rock – but won’t disclose where it is.
Pat Vaughan told the Irish Examiner newspaper that he discovered the image near a castle in the Glenveagh National Park.
The paper reports that the rock picture purports to show a face in a bowed pose complete with a ‘crown of thorns’.
Vaughan has photos of the image but so far he is refusing to divulge the rock’s location.
He told the Examiner: “I just happened to be doing bits and pieces when it caught my eye. The more I looked at it the more I seen the face of what looks like Jesus.
“I didn’t want to get too carried away with the find so I took a couple of pictures of the rock.
“I brought it into some of the staff and showed them the pictures without mentioning what it was. The reaction has been amazing and everyone said the same thing, that it was a picture of our lord.”
Vaughan may reveal the location of the rock depending on the interest in his story, according to the report.
He added: “I know exactly where it is and I can guarantee that nobody else will find it. The last thing I want is to create another stampede for people looking for religious icons.
“However, I can’t deny what I see and anyone who I have spoken to and shown the picture, sees the same.
“I may consider arranging for people to see the rock feature if there is a demand for it.”
Here's an image of the rock in question:

seanomelb | May 21, 2012, 03:34 AM EDT
SEan - That is LIES! She was talking in her sleep last night and she said she doesn't like you, at all at all at all. Dream on baby! Éamo. (By the way, let's not start arguing again - but the word is CHRISTmas!) (As opposed to MUHAMMEDass). Careful now, you'll have me shot!
seanomelb | May 20, 2012, 07:17 PM EDT
Ciara will be Melbourne over Xmas hope you're not jealous we are having a drink in the Celtic Club(That's if she is still talking to me).
EamonnDublin | May 20, 2012, 03:46 AM EDT
"SeanOBaileAthaCliath" - I might, if Ciara comes calling! Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.

SeanO'Dublin", Thank you, kind sir - delighted to see you have finally come around to my way of thinking! Welcome to Team Dublin! Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.

EamonnDublin | May 18, 2012, 04:58 PM EDT
"ByTheBay" - In the main, members of ISLAM are peaceful people. ISLAMISTS are terrorists. If the Irish people can't see the difference, and villify those like me who point out the difference, then may God help our descendents, especially the girls. It's a good thing that Europe wasn't relying on you and the likes of you to fight Hitler. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
Bythebay | May 18, 2012, 10:37 AM EDT
The "Find the Treasure Map" will be available at the Park for all those coming for The Gathering! Small fee required.
Bythebay | May 18, 2012, 10:35 AM EDT
Vaughan should take a Rorschach test to show what else he "sees".
Bythebay | May 18, 2012, 10:31 AM EDT
EamonnDublin, obviously you speak for Americans who are trying to villify Islamists unjustly. We in Ireland aren't doing that and won't.
sirpeter | May 17, 2012, 07:25 PM EDT
EamonnDublin. Cheers!!
EamonnDublin | May 17, 2012, 05:28 PM EDT
ByTheBay - I have made very clear - many times, in many posts - what is the definition of Islamism that I use. I don't really think you can mistake what I am saying in those posts. However, I don't think you are REALLY interested in the definition - I think you are just, one more boring time - trying to say that I am American and I live in America. Well, do you know something? I don't care any more WHAT you think. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
EamonnDublin | May 17, 2012, 05:19 PM EDT
SirPaeter - I have actually responded to your last post (May 17th, 9.14 am) twice, but neither of them appeared at all, so I hope this one does. Thank you for your message. Very gracious of you. I do not like arguing, but somehow the anonymity of this board brings out the worst in us! Let us move on in peace and harmony, and have good debates, without insults. Insults are a waste of time - and, yes, I have done my share on here. Best Wishes, Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
Bythebay | May 17, 2012, 01:50 PM EDT
EasmonnDublin, there are wide variations in the definition of Islamism, in the US it is your definition, that is NOT the definition in Ireland.
sirpeter | May 17, 2012, 09:14 AM EDT
Eamo.My last comment was not intended to be insulting.I was trying to lighten the conversation because at heart I think you are a decent guy.I know you didn't apologise because you were afraid. You apologised because you made an error and it was the right thing to do.You said it was a typing error so that's good enough for me.I also made a mistake in been flippant with your apology. That was wrong of me.You are right!I should have taken it in the manner intended.
EamonnDublin | May 17, 2012, 03:30 AM EDT
Seanomelb, It is not I who am confused. It was YOU who accused me of "making up" the word "Islamist" and "Islamism". I simply explained the difference to you. I will not explain it again, because I am totally wasting my time talking to the likes of you. BTW, it is very sad that you cannot just see an apology and accept it for what it is - to try to insult somebody for an apology is just about as low as you can go, even for you. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland. I DESPISE ISLAMISM.
seanomelb | May 16, 2012, 07:34 PM EDT
Islam-Islamism-Islamist poor old Eamonn is confused. I may have to take it easy on the old boy another apology to sirpeter would break the man (Eamonn)I think your wrong IrelandNorth I still think it looks like the great palestinian patriot Yasser Arafat. We now have two patriots from Palestine Yasser and Jesus.
EamonnDublin | May 16, 2012, 04:04 PM EDT
ByTheBay - For the last time: I am complaining about Islamism, NOT Islam. If you still don't know the difference, don't blame me! I agree that the vast majority of Muslims in Ireland are peace loving. However, there are some who support Islamism. It is these latter I despise. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
Bythebay | May 16, 2012, 02:21 PM EDT
Ireland has welcomed those who practice Islam to our country. They are peace loving, hard working and respectful members of our communities. Several Mosques have been built in Ireland as well.
EamonnDublin | May 16, 2012, 01:52 PM EDT
You see, "SirPeter", the problem with people like you is that, even when one admits to an error and apologises for it, you cannot just accept it in the manner in which it is intended. You just have to keep on sniping, being nasty, being insulting. That's the very reason that these discussion boards are REALLY a waste of time. BTW, I didn't apologise because I am afraid - I apologised because it was the proper thing to do. I am, however, impressed to see that you appreciate that when criticism is made of Muslims in general, their answer appears to be for a fair number of them to take to the streets and burn, pillage and even murder. So, in that sense, your "Only Jokin'" at the end of your post is misplaced. It's a very serious issue. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
EamonnDublin | May 16, 2012, 01:42 PM EDT
"IrelandNorth" - I used the word "Islamist" because that is exactly what I wished to say. "I detest Islamism". To my knowledge, the Islamists are the only grouping of people whose repeatedly stated aim is to take over Western civilization and subject it to Shari'a Law. Now, if you do not detest that, I simply fail to understand your stance. As for the latter part of your post, you state that the face of Jesus on the rock "looks conspicuously like Mohammed - even if we don't know what he looks like". Do you want to re-think that sentence? Best Wishes, Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
sirpeter | May 16, 2012, 12:16 PM EDT
That's ok Eamo. Now that you have apologised to the Muslim people.I'm sure the Fatwá has been called off and the mujahideen who were on their way to your house has got a phone call.Better hope they had credit in their phone. lololol.Best to take IrelandNorth's advice and be a little vague when it comes to our Muslim cousins ;)) No need to go into hiding I'd say.Just change your name and stay away from Mosques.lol*Only Jokin'
IrelandNorth | May 16, 2012, 07:16 AM EDT
EamonDublinIreland(EDI)! If "Islamism" (sic) is synonmous with "terroism" (sic), why not just use the word "terrorism" (sic) and avoid un/intentional(?) correlative/quasi-propagandistic sectarianism? A born again pastor from Clondalkin in west Dublin charged with malicious damage and sacrilige in 1986, said the only moving statue he saw in Ballinspittal, County Tipperary (in Munster/southern Ireland), was the one he had sledge-hammered. Looks like we now have an outbreak of another geological Jesus in County Donegal (in Ulster/northern Ireland), who looks consicuously like Mohammed - even if we don't know what He looks like since Orthodox Islam forbids graphic representations of The Prophet, but only to avoid idolatry.
EamonnDublin | May 16, 2012, 07:02 AM EDT
Sir Pater, My apologies! I have just seen that I used the words "I despise Islam", once. As you well know, on all other occasions I have stated "I despise Islamism", which I indeed do. I have apologised to Islam on a different post. I do not apologise to Islamism. Éamonn, Dublin, Oreland. I DESPISE ISLAMISM.
EamonnDublin | May 16, 2012, 04:07 AM EDT
Sir Peter! How many times! You are once again alleging that I said something that I clearly did not say. I will say again, at the foot of this post, what I actually said. There is an enormous difference between Islam and Islamism. Islam is a religion. Islamism is terrorism. The word "Islamism" is now universally accepted to mean "TERRORISM". I despise TERRORISM. Got it, finally? Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland. I DESPISE ISLAMISM.
Seanmor | May 15, 2012, 10:51 PM EDT
It seems rather doubtful that the 'image' on the rock is actually the face of Jusus. Speaking of religious icons, few Irish people seem to know about the Irish Madonna that was taken from Clonfert Cathedral (Co Galway) to Gyór, Hungary, for safekeeping in 1663.This was donein anticipation of renewed Catholic persecution by King Charles 11 (who was succeeded by James 11 who lost the Battle of the Boyne, 1690). Sarsfiled managed to arranged the Treaty of Limerick, which granted Irish Catholics a measure of freedom. But within a few years this treaty was violated, when new anti-Catholic laws were enacted. Then on 17 March, 1697, the Irish Madonna in Gyór was seen to shed tears of blood for about 2 hours. One account has it that hundreds witnessed this event, including the city's mayor, several councilmen, Calvinists, Lutherans, and a Jewish rabbi. All of these are said to have given official testemony for having seen the Irish Madonna shed tears of blood. How many of the readers know about this?

Jaysus, don't we have one of these "looks like.... per quarter?

Well Said Eamonn - I'll second that! Oh and to the owner of the comment "That Shower in Donegal" keep your sweeping statement insults to yourself rather than cowarding behind a commenting forum!!
EamonnDublin | May 15, 2012, 03:27 PM EDT
Why can't people just let people who believe, believe? Why do they feel obliged to be insulting to the believers, as in the posts? If somebody says to me, "I don't believe in God", I don't start insulting him or her and saying "You must be stupid, of course there is a God". There is no problem whatsoever in questioning belief, but to insult belief and the believer appears to me to betray a lack of security in one's stance. Oh, and by the way, "MacConDubh", there is a certain image or likeness which is commonly accepted as representing what Jesus looked like - one does not have to know what He ACTUALLY looked like to accept that. Thankfully, I have never seen the devil, and nobody knows what the devil actually looks like - but if you see a representation of the devil in a drawing, you don't need to be told "that's the devil". And, also by the way, no, I have no idea whether a devil actually exists or not. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.

Islam insists upon no pictorials at all of Mohammed, but the Christian find Jesus everywhere.

Our dear Lord himself said, "If these keep silent (meaning his followers), even the stones will cry out."
MacConDubh | May 15, 2012, 10:30 AM EDT
Can somebody help me here? I see...um...a rock. Also, since nobody knows what Jesus looked like, I'm always a little curious about people who recognize him in rocks or toast or potatoes or whatnot.

That shower in Donegal would crucify Our Lord!
