May America please be spared from any more Kennedys entering politics. I cannot understand the fascination the people of this country have for the whole disgusting clan. The family wealth was founded by Joseph, father of JFK, who was a bootlegger during the Prohibition years...and the morals (or lack thereof) went steadily downhill from there. There is nothing to be admired in a family of people who have shown over and over again that they consider themselves superior to "the rest of us," by getting away with murder (anyone recall Chappaquiddick?), cheating on their spouses, maligning said spouses after their death...and the list goes on and on. If they have no morals in their private lives, does anyone honestly expect them to have morals in their political lives? Sweep them in the garbage, where they belong.

The Kennedy family, first broke through a glass ceiling of thinking, that the Irish and especially Irish Catholics were not worthy of achieving political office. Secondly, even with their imperfections, the Kennedy's left this world a far better place than it was before them.

Seano having lived through the kennedy years, all of them I have a certain perspective, I left out the stories about Joe senior, Oil Joe, Michael, I have first hand accounts from the schriver and Arnold scw. wedding, those schriver boys are something else. I left out the baby sitting stories. The only time I felt bad, post JFK was for the plane accident, a more stuck up, condescending, self righteous, addicted, family you'll ever find.

The Kennedy family, like all families, is imperfect. But there was greatness there too, along with shameful failings and unending tragedies. In my youth I was quick to condemn, not so much now. Sen. Ted Kennedy demonstrated for the world to see a terrible character failing at Chappaquiddick in 1969 - but spent the rest of his life in the U.S. Senate seeking redemption. He was not called by both sides "The Lion of the Senate" for nothing. No senator in history passed as much legislation as Ted Kennedy - and all of it, all of it was to improve the lives of the middle class, the working poor, the disabled and the disenfranchised. He was born into a family of power and wealth - and spent his whole public life working for those without power or wealth. I do hope his son will run for public office. I do believe that this family still has much to give, remembering Rose Kennedy, the old matriarch, "those to whom much is given, much is expected."

When are these Kennedy people stop this "public service."and actually do some real work. The Kennedys are way to good to us. We really don't deserve it.

Petty little comments like Ned Daly do not advance common sense debate and I am disappointed Briano would sink to Daly's level.
