The"...solidarity that underpins the union..." presently undermines Ireland's cultural integrity. The solidarity of Ireland's cultural integrity is underpinned by Ireland's collateral, its land, and its people. Ireland's land collateral is underpinned, in the southwest, by the confiscated lands of the Fitzgeralds, and, in Northern Ireland, by the confiscated lands of the O'Neills.

The corrupt and worthless Irish ruling class often talk about their "friends and partners in Europe". Some friends in Europe. Some idiots in Ireland. The Irish should start a branch of the British UKIP. I recommend folks to check out clips of the UKIP leader in the European Parliament, an English guy called Farage. It's a real hoot to see how the Eurocrats squirm when he lays into them. The Irish Members of parliament look on like dumb sheep.
