The Israeli Embassy in Dublin has apologized after it posted a derogatory message on their Facebook wall for the holiday season on Monday.
A “Christmas thought,” suggesting that if Jesus lived in the modern world he would “probably end up being lynched in Bethlehem by hostile Palestinians,” was deleted from the official Facebook page of Israel’s embassy in Ireland on Monday. A second message was later posted, giving credit for the thought to a Facebook friend of the embassy, named Daniel.
Both posts were later deleted from the Facebook wall and then replaced with an apology “to anyone who may have been offended.”
Derek O’Flynn, a press officer for the embassy in Dublin, told The New York Times he did not know who posted the message online.
“People who post on the embassy Facebook page include embassy staff and also people based in Israel itself,” O’Flynn wrote in an e-mail.

“We don’t know who actually made the original post. All I know is that when it was brought to our attention, we here in the embassy deleted it immediately and posted the new message in its place.”
Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said, "Removing the post is of course the right thing to do, and as far as we are concerned that is the end of the story," he said.
"We will of course carry out an internal investigation to find out how such a post was published, but his is an internal matter, in order to make sure this won't happen again. Facebook is a very informal channel, which is essentially not diplomatic, and as such it is customary to post informal statements. Clearly, however, when anyone feels hurt it is important to apologize and remove the problematic post, and the embassy was right when it did this."

The Israeli state is a terrorist state therefore run by war criminals. Justice for palestine.
EamonnDublin | Dec 26, 2012, 09:04 AM EST
"CaoimhinMc - You ask me what's racist about your comments. Well, just to start, and I need go no further, your calling the Israelis, en masse, "baby killers, war criminals and murderers". THAT is racist. Éamonn, Dublin. I STAND WITH ISRAEL. I STAND AGAINST ISLAMISM.
seanomelb | Dec 23, 2012, 06:27 PM EST
Eamonn condones the slaughter of Palestinian people and justifies his actions by calling CaoimhinMc a racist how ironic. Justice for Palestine.
CaoimhinMc | Dec 23, 2012, 03:56 PM EST
Eamondublin: Whats racist about my comment, can you enlighten me and the other readers. Is it that you support child murderers or that the Israelis are child murderers or maybe the word Zionist. Perhaps it was me referring to the Israelis as land thief's. All the above is true facts, so what is your counter argument or will you just waffle on again. Prey tell ?.
IrelandNorth | Dec 21, 2012, 08:02 AM EST
An embassy staff member enquired if the story would be published in The Irish Times. Sounds like a well orchestrated publicity stunt. Bad publicity is NO publicity. Controversy pays. Photo looks more like husband and wife than son and mother. If Jeshua's mother Miriam was actually younger than him, would that not mean that she gave birth to him befoe she herself was born. Now that's what I call immaculate! Or that she was his step mother? (Geez! No wonder all Jewish guys have undisolved Oedipus complexes! Maybe even Mark Zuckerberg?) Either way, seems like the Israeli state is competing with its Irish counterpart for 'Martyr of the Millenium Award'. Jeshua was executed by Roman imperialists at the behest of 2nd Temple Sanhedrin hierarchy for a fistful of shekels. Not "da Jews" generically! And was he not Judean (or Galilean) rather than Israeli? If Israel is a democracy, is it the same kind as Northern Ireland? And if one can't have a country without borders, can one have medicine sans frontieres? And re idiots not fighting back, did the Messiah the Jews missed (?) not espouse turning the other cheek? Shalom! Happy Hanuka, y'all!
butlerreport | Dec 20, 2012, 12:17 PM EST
Well they would lynch them. Why apologize?
EamonnDublin | Dec 20, 2012, 10:50 AM EST
Apologies, CaoimhinMc, I left out the name "Wounded Knee" when I was referring to the comment that he had made about "Dublin87" and me being one and the same. Sláinte! Éamonn.
EamonnDublin | Dec 20, 2012, 10:47 AM EST
Good Man yerself, "CaoimhinMc"! A great oul' racist rant there - the oul' gob should shurely be a bit sore after dat wan. I note it's in keeping with a lot of the filth and rubbish on this site. Oh, BTW, your comment that "Dublin87" and myself are one and the same is incorrect. I should have considered that even a simpleton would see the difference. However, no point in my contradicting your comment, because in the usual nature of comments on here, my post will be turned around to say that I had "admitted" that Dublin87 and I are one and the same. Have a Lovely Christmas Everybody. Keep reading this stuff and going totally berserk - but note that hardly anybody reads it anyway. You're wasting your time, as am I - that's why I just dip in about once a week now. See you, guys and gals! Keep screaming. It's great for a giggle before dinner. Éamonn.
Dubliner87 | Dec 20, 2012, 02:49 AM EST
If you think that I'm a racist, you would do well to invest in a dictionary, and perhaps an education. The Hamas display racism as extreme as Hitlers. In fact, you can look it up yourself, in the Hamas Charter.
WoundedKnee | Dec 20, 2012, 02:32 AM EST
"like your dublin friend Eamonn". You're blind, seanomel. It's the same poster.
WoundedKnee | Dec 20, 2012, 02:31 AM EST
Dubliner--We really don't need another racist poster here. Though as it happens I agree with one thing you wrote: "you'd have to be an idiot not to fight back". Yes, the Palestinians would have to be idiots not to fight back against the vast murder machine arrayed against them. They have suffered greatly as a result, countless slain and mutilated, largely because their fellow-Arabs have left them virtually defenseless. As regards Israeli "offers" only a racist fool like you would say that a negotiating position put forward by one side and rejected by the other constitutes an agreement.
anglo-norman | Dec 19, 2012, 11:33 PM EST
seanomelb- Don't post on an empty stomach son
Dubliner87 | Dec 19, 2012, 11:31 PM EST
WoundedKnee, would you have them sit and pose while Palestinians are firing rockets over the border? Of course they're going to fire back, you'd have to be an idiot not to fight back (or a western liberal). And seanomelb, you can't have a country without borders, and Palestine has none. Their unilateral bid for statehood through the UN violates all the past Palestinian Liberation Organization agreements with Israel as well as several UN resolutions, because they refuse to negotiate to establish borders. They could have ended this conflict several times. They refuse to reciprocate and extend the right of statehood, and that's why they don't have a country. Israel offered to dismantle settlements in 2000, and 2008 for peace, and Palestinian leaders refused. Because they don't want peace. They want Jews dead. You sir, should educate yourself before making yourself look like an idiot on the internet.
seanomelb | Dec 19, 2012, 06:49 PM EST
Before uyou open your blowhole again Dublin87,Palestine is reclognised by every country(bar9) as an independent state and like your dublin friend Eamonn you condemn the murder of Palestinian women and children by Israeli terrorist using assault rifles and cluster bombs. Anglo obviously has a simpletons understanding of democracy.
Scrivner | Dec 19, 2012, 06:31 PM EST
Pardon me, but Christianity should not be used as a bludgeon. We're told to love our neighbor as ourselves, of course some are filled with self-loathing so that won't work that well.
anglo-norman | Dec 19, 2012, 04:15 PM EST
Israel is a democracy
CaoimhinMc | Dec 19, 2012, 02:21 PM EST
Eamonndublin, who stands tall with baby killers and war criminals you will be getting no apology from me and I utterly condemn the Zionist Terrorist state of Israel and all who support those callous conniving land robbers and murderers. You are Wrong of course, either miss informed or lying like your Zionist friends are also good at. The Israeli Embassy in Dublin only took there anti Christian/Arab post down after an Irish Times journalist had seen it and then went on to question the Embassy about such a derogatory post which was posted by EMBASSY STAFF and liked and commented on by EMBASSY STAFF and Friends. For God or Allah’s sake cope-on man. CaoimhinMc in Dublin.
EamonnDublin | Dec 19, 2012, 10:11 AM EST
Happy Christmas, Everybody! I think a few of you would do well to actually read the article. The headline states (in the normal twisted manner of Irish Central) that "Dublin's Israeli Embassy Posts Derogatory Christmas Comment....". The actual truth is (as noted later on in the same article) that as soon as Dublin's Israeli Embassy discovered the existence of the comment, they took it down. They also apologised for its temporary, albeit unbeknownst to them, existence. I suppose a small apology from the more savage anti-Israelis amongst you is out of the question - self righteousness appears to be the order of the day within Irish Central and some of its "readers". I STAND WITH ISRAEL. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
WoundedKnee | Dec 19, 2012, 07:59 AM EST
Dubliner (are you sure you're a Dubliner, maybe you're one of those Israeli students that make a few bucks posting propaganda on websites?) "How many women are mutilated and murdered by their own family in Israel?" No, they just mutilate and murder Palestinians!
Dubliner87 | Dec 19, 2012, 04:15 AM EST
Joe Glackin - And to let you know, because I'm sure you don't research anything before you open your blowhole. Christmas isn't a Christian holiday, it was a Roman pagan holiday that lasted 8 days where a man or woman would be taken to represent the Lord of Misrule, and eventually killed under the belief that they were destroying evil spirits. When the Christians took over, they promised the people that this holiday would continue, but decided to name the 25th as Jesus' birthday. There's much more to it than that, but the fact is that Christmas was a pagan holiday where murder of an innocent man or woman was committed to ward away darkness, and if you care to do a little research of your own, you'll find that Christians hijacked it and turned it into a holiday to persecute the Jews. I know you just learned a lot, hope your head doesn't hurt too bad. Cheers.
Dubliner87 | Dec 19, 2012, 03:54 AM EST
Actually, Palestine, like today isn't a country. So.. he wouldn't be Palestinian. And as for Israel being against all Christian Denominations, I don't see them publicly executing people for publicly preaching Christianity, sorcery, or blasphemy. I could certainly name you a few, and wouldn't you know it, those same countries also teach their children that it's an honor to strap a bomb to yourself to kill Jews. Not Israelis, Jews. How many women are mutilated and murdered by their own family in Israel?
seanomelb | Dec 18, 2012, 05:07 PM EST
Typical meaningless propoganda from a failed terrorist state. What can you expect from a pig but a grunt.
hooligan6a | Dec 18, 2012, 04:55 PM EST
KMcSinger, I alway thought it was Roman soldiers that crucified Jesus. What a bunch of bigots you people are. And you call yourself Christians. HAVE A MERRY Christmas.

Joe Glackin: where did you get the information that Jesus Christ was Jewish? If as a Christians you accept that Jesus was the 'Son of God', accepting him as Jewish would necessarily mean that God is Jewish; That is NOT a presumption that I ascribe any importance to. Joseph and Mary came from Galilee which in Christ's language (Aramaic) means 'The Land of the Goyim' ie non jews. Therefore, Jesuus WAS a Palestinian! Furthermore, I do NOT accept Jesus as being 'meek and mild'; far from it! His speeches and anarchic actions against the usurers in the Jewish temple did little to endear him to the Pharisees and the Judaic high priest, Caiphus, who was the REAL mover behind the death of Jesus. Furthermore, if, as 'Silling' suggests, that it was a 'Jewish fairy tale'then logically, so is the Jewish claim to Palestine.
Silling | Dec 18, 2012, 12:17 PM EST
You stopped believing in Santa Claus and were given the replacement of Jesus. Nobody should take offense at this facebook remark, because it is only a fairytale where the Jews purposely decided to make one of their own the loser. It was a very clever piece of scriptwriting and they should be congratulated for their genius. If Jesus was around today, he would be applying for the PR position with Ryan Air because Michael O' Leary is a miracle worker. Have a peaceful Christmas one and all.
jamj24 | Dec 18, 2012, 12:09 PM EST
I think it more likely that Jesus would defend the palistinians rights, and again be mudered by the israelis...
Joe Glackin | Dec 18, 2012, 11:17 AM EST
True view of Israel against all Christian Denominations, Catholic Protestant etc. This illegal false State which uses the Jewish race ,faith for their own evil Zionist conquests didn’t slip up here. Its Christmas, an important Christian season .With all of Europe against their recent evil massacre of Palestinians and pressure on the US, is an occasion for more blackmailing America into endorsing Political human genocide. Moreover its an insult on our intelligence as it was the Jews there who crucified their fellow Jewish lover of peace.
thetint | Dec 18, 2012, 10:50 AM EST
Typical of the hatred shown by the Israelis for their fellow Semites the Palestinians. We should not ignore the policy of Anschluss currently being pursued in contravention of the |UN votes.
KMcSinger | Dec 18, 2012, 10:17 AM EST
But in reality Jesus was lynched (crucified) by the Jews. Such a silly comment.
pilib04 | Dec 18, 2012, 09:55 AM EST
Why should this surprise anyone?
Joe Kelsall | Dec 18, 2012, 09:38 AM EST
That's funny: I thought Jesus was a Palestinian? Anyway.Israel itself only survives by creating conflict; but not participating, of course, unless you live in Gaza. In case you are not aware of it, Israel has an organisation called 'Hasbara' which pays students to post pro Israel propaganda. I am not expecting this submission to be published.
mylesie | Dec 18, 2012, 08:54 AM EST
No doubt we will get a strong rebbuke buke from the Justice Minister
