Great news, ya it does seem a good idea to pollute even further an already overly radioactive Irish Sea. Norway also have very high taxes and a highly socialised political system, that has done far more for their country;s distribution of wealth and infrastructure than their oil!

Being Irish myself, I can safely say that we're an awful bunch of complainers. It's great news and could be the making of the country. You just have to see how Norway have handled their wealth from oil to see how wonderful it could be. Their roads, infrastructure and funding for the arts are all funded by their oil.

I agree that Cardinal Law formally of Boston and now residing in the Vatican, thanks to our former Pope should be in prison. I never heard anything about Bill O'Reilly playing a leading role in the process. And I still remain a church going Roman Catholic.

Oh and former Formula One racing driver Eddie Irvine has used more than his fair share of the planet's oil reserves. I'm beginning to think that Dalkey is the ideal place for an oil refinery as a reminder to Bono and company of what they are doing in other peoples back yards

U2 go on tour with a 400 ton stage that takes four days to erect and 180 articulated lorries to transport from one gig to the next. Perhaps if they were a bit more environmentally aware we could take their views seriously, but as far as oil goes they are the ultimat hypocrites

If I was looking to pick up some inexpensive property deals in Dalkey I'd start an oil-wells-off-the-coast rumor. I don't believe this one yet. I'm still waiting for the huge wind farm that was supposed to be developed off the coast just south of Dalkey. That was first mentioned 5 or 6 years ago and nothing's happened.
