The father of an Irishman facing jail for a sex romp in Dubai has insisted his son is innocent.
Offaly man Conor McRedmond and English woman Becky Blake are to appeal three month jail sentences.
The pair were sentenced at Dubai’s Misdemeanours Court after they were found guilty of having sex in a taxi.

They were also fined a thousand dollars each and will be deported when their sentences are served.
Dad Christy McRedmond has insisted that his son, working as a welder in the Middle East state, is innocent of all charges.
He told the Irish Sun: “I know he is innocent. It’s a laugh. That’s what it is. It’s very bad now. I know he’s innocent.
“He is not locked up. I don’t know what’ll happen but we’ll see.
“The case has been adjourned until January. Conor’s working away there, he was back to work this morning.”
The party-loving pair have denied romping in the taxi but admitted they went on an all-day drinking session in May.
The report says that although there was no DNA evidence to prove they had sex, the court imposed the three-month jail terms.
Solicitor Shaker al-Shammary has vowed to appeal on behalf of the couple.
He said: “This is a very unjust sentence. This ruling should not have been made by the court.
“I believe the judgement was made very hastily and it’s invalid. I also think it’s contrary to law and the rule of evidence, that’s why we will be appealing against it.”

I thought Dubai was a progressive country, as far as Muslims were concerned! They have the horse races every March, and women don't have to wear head coverings. That is why I am surprised that Rebecca Blake is wearing one, in this photo. Nobody should have sex in the back seat of a car/cab; they could have moved it indoors. I guess that is what might happen, if 2 people don't know how to handle their liquor.

Shur of course he's innocent, Irish people are pillars of decorum when visiting other countries, always cognizant of local rules and that behavior that may be tolerated in Ireland might not be acceptable elsewhere. Irish visitors are very aware that when they visit Perth, Queensland, Chicago, San Diego, Nashville, Dubai etc. that the antics that the gardai turn a blind eye to in Limerick, Cork, Galway, Tralee, Dublin, Kilkenny etc. is not acceptable in other jurisdictions. They understand that drinking themselves into a stupor, throwing up their guts outside the bar, getting into a scrap in the chipper or kebab house isn't considered normal behavior, or 'having de craic' in most places outside of Ireland and such has consequences. Ha, ha, ha, ha just kidding, personally believe that Irish people traveling outside of Ireland should be required to partake in at least six months of classes on what constitutes 'normal behavior' before being permitted to leave the rock.

Welcome to the Islamic world and their arcane system of justice. Be thankful they don't stone the woman.

He may find Islam in jail, and come back to Ireland as another Kahlid Kelly.

Perhaps a KNIGHTHOOD from Queen Lizzie for furtherance of Anglo-Irish relationships.

on a drinking binge and the irish father knows what went down he must have had a videocam strapped to his dumb ass son. In a drunken state one never knows what one does until the morrow when friends won't come near ye.
