There was a social work case before the courts in Irland of a Traveller couple who seriously abused their mainly duaghters, to the extent of grievous bodily harm. He subjected them to horrific mutilations which they learned to believe was normal, while the mother neglected to intervene. So divorce is damaging to children. Geez?

ciaradexy. There is always exceptions and special cases. But I'm speaking in general.I'm not saying I'm totally against divorce. But in most cases it has an awful effect if the kids are young.I would class it as a form of child abuse.I know it's not intentional in most cases. But I would still call divorce a form of child abuse.

Why should a couple stay in a loveless marriage until their kids reach adulthood? Why should kids have to grow up with parents who do not love each other? If they are in the same house, kids can pick up on these vibes. Get out while you can if youre 100% sure its not for you.

Strangely, sirpeter, I almost agree with you. I make exceptions for marriages in which one spouse abuses the other or their children, or won't take the cure for an addiction, or is a criminal or serial adulterer. But spouses who don't have such problems should put up with each other until the children have grown up. Then I think they should go separate ways if the marriage isn't working for both. "Until death does us part" made sense when people did not live long enough to see their youngest children reach adulthood. Today, they have half a lifetime left after their 1.38 (average per couple) children leave the nest.

Ciaa: What do you want the Irish to do, start attacking foreign migrants? The Irish are decent hospitable people. They don't blame foreigners for moving into the country, they blame the politicians both in Ireland and the EU who have created a system where a small country such as Ireland can be overrun by foreigners. Show me where the Irish gave their assent to this.

Sirpete, my parents divorced after 10 years of arguments and I can guarantee you, we were much happier when they werent married to each other anymore. My dad has remarried and Ive never seen him happier. Better have 2 divorced parents who have functional relationships than 2 parents who hate each other and who cant be in the same house.

Everybody loses in marriage breakdown.I mean everybody.Thinking deeply about the matter.I hate to say it but the Catholic church have that right too.Considering kids suffer most from divorce.I think I'm safe in saying parents who divorce are child abusers.Of course I don't blame couples who want to part ways.Been a failure at marriage is very human.Like all abuse of children. It's about satisfying the individual at the expense of the child.Basically it's like two pedophiles only they are mind-raping their kids instead. Then they both over-compensate for their failure or totally fail as a parent and mind-rape them some more.Life is tough.

Awoken, where are all these protests against immigration?
Why hasnt it been included in this article that the reason for the increase in the number of people declaring themselves catholic is due to the number of Polish people in the country?

Does anyone find it interesting that other people's names appear on the comments you post? Or, your name appears on another's comments? This is getting pretty old.
