Distraught woman in Dublin saved by emergency services in Oklahoma- VIDEO
Pregnant prostitute repeatedly told call centre workers she was suicidal
An emergency call centre in Oklahoma City saved the life of a suicidal woman who said she was a pregnant prostitute in Dublin, Ireland, last month.
Reports have emerged of how staff at an emergency call centre in Oklahoma received the call from the Irishwoman.
She rang and told emergency dispatchers in Oklahoma that she wanted to harm herself.
She also told them she was pregnant and wanted to commit suicide during several calls to the number in Oklahoma on March 2nd.
The woman consistently refused to give her name according to a report on TheJournal.ie
Police were unable to trace the call at first according to David Shupe, director of 911 services.
He told KBOI 670 News: “She was suicidal, had a gun and said she was going to kill herself. Her biggest concern was making sure someone was contacted so her child would be OK.
“She said repeatedly she was trying to get out of the life of prostitution.”
Experts at AT & T initially traced the call to the Isle of Man and then to an address in Dublin.
Irish police were contacted and called to the address where they found the woman in a ‘serious’ condition with a stab wound.
Dublin officers assisted the woman but it remains unclear how she rang the emergency services in Oklahoma.
“It was a total team effort,” 911 supervisor Steve Vincent told News on 6.
Oklahoma City authorities are to honor the dispatchers involved.
