Utter nonsense. How many versions have we heard now of this story. And that Blueshirt Fergus O’Dowd blaming the Provos for the shooting – mad as a box of frogs.

Both Police authorities are keenly aware of the gang, however the laws of the land they live in prevent an arrest without credible evidence. The Provos also know who these guys are and they don't abide by the same rule book as the rest of us. I would think there are some young people in South Armagh who arn't getting much sleep and whose families are coming to terms with their upcoming punishment.

Apparently they don't want independent operators in the South Armagh/Louth area. If you would like to learn more about the history of South Armagh, read "Bandit Country, the IRA and South Armagh" by Toby Harndon. This book is probably the best written from an historical analysis. It ends near the Good Friday Agreement. Harndon has the ability to make you feel you are part of the history. I rarely give praise or credit to English journalists, but I certainly recognize ability when I see it.
