The estranged wife of Robert F Kennedy Jr, Mary (52), was found dead at her Mount Kisco, New York home, on Wednesday afternoon, according to law enforcement officials.
Reports emerged on TMZ that policehad responded to the scene at 1.36pm to investigate a possible “unattended death”, meaning the death was not witnessed.
Early reports on ContactMusic say "she died from an apparent suicide".
Robert and Mary were married in 1994. He filed for divorce in May 2010. Three days after the papers were filed she was arrested in Bedford for a DUI.
Mary was Robert’s second wife. She is survived by their four children.
Mary Kennedy was a deeply troubled woman who had been convicted of drunk driving and was clearly in a pressurized marriage when she was wed to Robert Kennedy Junior.

Kennedy wives at the best of times have tough roads to follow. Teddy Kennedy's first wife Joan also became an alcoholic and her life has been a constant struggle with the booze.
Robert Kennedy Junior had his own brushes with the law. he was arrested for heroin possession in 1983 .he married Mary Richardson (b. 1960 d. 2012) , his second wife, on April 15, 1994, on board a research vessel along the Hudson River.
On May 12, 2010, Kennedy filed for divorce from his wife of 16 years just three days before Mary Kennedy was charged with drunken driving.
Her death at such a young age begs the question again about how difficult and draining it is to be a Kennedy woman. Almost every bride from Jackie Kennedy on has had tough times dealing with being a Kennedy spouse.

No. I think this particular woman had substance abuse problems already and mental issues. No doubt Kennedyism contributed but the sole cause.....no way.

Only goes to show how wealth and privilege doesn't seem to cosset one from the vicissitudes of life. It often seems to aggravate them. Terribly said story. I wish them all the best in grieving this sad loss. Ar dheis Dei go raibh a h'anam! RIP. May they find peace and joy in life.

It only goes to show how wealth and privilege doesn't seem to be able to protect you from the vicissitudes of life. In fact, it often seems to aggravate them. Terribly sad story. I wish them all well in coming to terms with their troubles. Ar dheis Dei go raibh a h'anam! RIP.

Anyone who thinks about ending their own lives should seek treatment. Everyone who hears another person express suicidal thoughts should urge them to seek treatment.

Being a Kenned by marriage is like living with a constant super star. So sad.

Alcohol & drug addiction have more to do with the self than the other. No doubt a Kennedy atmosphere would add great stress along with great wealth but we can't blame the partner when the other chooses suicide. And addiction seems to run strong in the Kennedy clan.
