DNA test results have linked the former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Struass-Kahn to the hotel maid he allegedly assaulted.

The former financial chief is accused of attempting to rape the maid and force her to perform oral sex in his $3,000 a night suite at the Sofitel Hotel in New York City.

Two sources involved with the investigation told the Associated Press that DNA retrieved from the maid’s shirt matched a sample provided by DSK last week.

The attorney working for the former French presidential contender has said the defense may be based on consensual sex, as the evidence is not consistent with a forcible encounter.

The accused was released from a Rikers Island jail last Friday after posting a $1 million cash and $5 million bond last Friday.

He had been supposed to move to Bristol Plaza on East 65th Street, but neighbors objected and his attorney had to find him a house in lower Manhattan, where he remains under house arrest.

His wife Anne Sinclair was seen leaving his apartment, near Wall Street on Sunday morning, she continues to stand by her husband.
