Another thing that is quite clear is that the unionists have been stringing along the Nationalists on policing and justice devolution for a very long time now. Apparently, the Sinn Fein leadership has had enough of this "maybe next year" equivocation. The unionists should be left in no doubt whatsoever that if the northern Irish power-sharing assembly is seen to have failed, then the only alternative will be joint Dublin-London rule of the Six counties.
