The conservative Irish religious group, the Iona Institute, has come out in favor of adoption by gay couples, over “Romanian-style” orphanages.
David Quinn, the director of the group, that promotes marriage and religion in society, made these comments after a High Court judge ruled that banning single people and gay couple from adopting children, in Northern Ireland, was discriminatory.
Quinn clarified his comments by stating that gay adoptions would only be acceptable in limited circumstances.

He said “If the choice is between being left in an orphanage and being raised by a loving single parent, a loving same sex couple, or a loving unmarried couple, then absolutely the child has to be adopted.
“Institutions, even when they are well run, are awful places for a child to grow up in. I've seen this and there's no question about it.”
Northern Ireland’s health minister, Edwin Poots, says he will appeal the ruling made by the High Court judge.
According to Gay Star News Poots has a record of challenging pro-LGBT laws. Previously he refused to live the ban on gay people donating blood. A ban on gay people donating blood was lifted in England, Scotland and Wales last year.

Jacer. With respect I can`t find any statistics on whether gay people are more likely to be involved in peadophelia. On a local level though I have never heard of any homosexual in court in relation to the issue. Was trying to search out a documentary about out of control problem teens who were sent abroad to get straightened out by various families. By far the best results of the whole series was 2 teenagers sent to live with 2 married gay men. They have adopted many children over many years, all returning to call it the only home they ever had and could never have wanted a better family with better parents. Shall try to find it.

Rubbish! LGBT people are constantly living in a false world of their own, being false stage- and street-actors and actresses, who suffer their lives through screamingly forced-upon false dreams by other distorted people, or of their own deviated-making and choosing. That is no way, and certainly not any environment, for a natural-born baby to be adopted and raised into in this much wider open wide-world than that which LGBT people live in. Shall we talk about child grooming in a big LGBT way??? No, we won’t and Irish Central doesn’t make the big issue of child-grooming that it should be... 'cos we’re not wide enough awake to see what LGBT people are screaming out for to further their unatural abuse of human bodies. Sheesh! The only ones who have made common sense posts below have been mairint and Wounded Knee. Poster alisaann is completely way off track in his/her argument IMHO. The gentle soul posters, katiemac and olovely, need to get real, face the horrible facts of the abuse of LGBT lives and not be so immersed in a form of charity that does not belong to true charity or true mammy-daddy baby love. Someday, somewhere, someone is going to stand up and rescue LGBT people from the false lives they’ve been succumbed to and avoid their abuse of adoption of normal’babies.

What a totally misleading heading !No Catholic or indeed Protestant Church organisation supports "gay" (a beautiful word spoiled ) adoption despite the constant spin about "love " . Also for your information there are no Romanian style orphanages in Ireland ,also there is a strict code of adoption laws ,which hopefully will keep the children out of the clutches of gays !

SUPER....this makes me happy as a straight person who SUPPORTS GAY RIGHTS....gays are MORE willing to take children with special needs, then straight couples for some reason....LOVE IS LOVE, NO MATTER THE "GENDER" OR "RACE" OF THOSE INVOLVED....AND GOD MADE EVERYONE, INCLUDING GAYS. ALISA

mairint, the only time you ever post is to gay bash. i hope the church are paying you enough love.

This is a false choice. There are countless heterosexual couples who would give anything for the chance to adopt. They should be given priority.

jhmdeuce. Your attitude is a very sad indictment. One that would deny poor children in orphanages the chance of a home filled with love, should your likes be taken seriously.
katiemac | Oct 20, 2012, 10:55 AM EDT
It is not the ideal situation, but what children need most is love and security, and my hat is off to anyone willing to provide that for them. I have known gay couples who did just that, at great career and financial sacrifice to themselves.

ABSOLUTELY! I have a relative who was damaged beyond saving after 6 years in an Irish orphanage. His life has been so sad and pathetic. I HATE the thought of children in orphanages and what the sadistic b-----ds do to their innocence. May they roast in hell. A family be it gay or otherwise, is far better for the child who never finds love in an orphanage!

Since when have they "Romanian style" orphanages in Ireland?? What a twist you put on this story IC. Absolute gibberish in order to continue beating your drum for Homosexual everything.
