Parishes in the Diocese of Cloyne are to hold public meetings to discuss the damning report into clerical sex abuse and the continued absence of former Bishop Dr John Magee.

A series of special meetings are to be held in parish halls across the area in the wake of the Cloyne Report.

Local priests want to address the sense of public outrage and anger over the mishandling of the complaints relating to child sex abuse in the Cork diocese.

The public, many of whom have stayed away from Mass in the diocese in recent times, will be afforded an opportunity to have their say on the findings of the Cloyne Report.

The Association of Catholic Priests has called on its members in Cloyne to conduct the meetings as soon as possible.

Fr Eoin Whooley, parish priest for Barryroe and a spokesman for the ACP group, insisted that his fellow Cloyne clerics are as upset and as angry as their parishioners.

“There was a strong sense of being let down by people who should know better,” Fr Whooley told the Sunday Independent.

“There was a sense of disappointment that the childcare guidelines were not followed. We thought we had moved on. There was also anger.

“It is now proposed to provide a forum whereby ordinary mass-goers will have a chance to talk about their opinions and their fears.”

The former Bishop of Cloyne, Dr Magee left Ireland for America before the Cloyne Report was published.

It is believed he is staying with relatives in the States but so far he has resisted all calls to return to Ireland and answer the claims made against him in the report.

if the people vent their anger, then the men in black will run for their lives to Roma.
More on Bernie's grandiose lifestyle in Rome and the rewards that come from doing the pope's bidding,no questions asked!***EXCERPT: "This past May . . . some 400 people gathered for a black-tie dinner on the Janiculum Hill, Rome’s highest point. They included Italian aristocrats, Catholic prelates, well-heeled American donors, and even the U.S. ambassador to the Holy See. The dinner was a fundraiser for the Pontifical North American College, the seminary to which bishops from the United States send their most promising candidates for the priesthood. These future leaders had set aside their theological studies for the evening to serve as waiters, and even musicians, performing Sinatra tunes after the guests had enjoyed their dinner of baked pasta and fillet of beef. A few feet from the stage sat Cardinal Law. Throughout the evening, the convivial Law was the object of attention. He remained seated as he received the greetings of well-wishers, including a priest who knelt before him at the table. When he finally rose from his chair to end the evening, some of those in the roomful of future bishops and wealthy donors pressed in close to the influential cardinal. And as Law turned to leave, walking from the brightly lit dining room toward the spring night beyond, a group of a dozen or so trailed in the wake of his black and scarlet cassock."***I'll bet one of the Sinatra tunes was “I DID IT MY WAY”***And “the faithful” continue to Pay, Pray & Obey!***Source: Boston Magazine / Our Man in Rome / Sept. 2006
He's probably hiding out with his colleague in crime, Cardinal” Bernard Law who was rewarded by the pope for his "good works"*** EXCERPT: "In his new home, Bernard Cardinal Law has built a pretty comfortable life for himself, presiding over a stunning basilica, mingling with admirers—and enjoying as much power as ever. . . . the archpriest’s apartment, housed in a building attached to the basilica’s south side, is “palatial,” with “frescoes on the wall.” Those who’ve visited say the space consists of six or seven nicely appointed rooms—a far cry from the four-story mansion on Commonwealth Avenue that Law lived in here, but nonetheless a decent spread in the Esquilino neighborhood, where real estate easily runs upward of $400 per square foot. The New York Times reported that Law would receive a stipend of $12,000 per month, but in fact, the amount is about $5,000, out of which the cardinal pays living expenses for himself and the two or three nuns who keep house for him. All in all, it’s a comfortable existence. Law regularly attends diplomatic and social events, and is occasionally seen dining out with friends. One of his favorite spots is said to be Cecilia Metella, a moderately expensive country restaurant on the Via Appia Antica where the prix fixe dinners run between $60 and $85."****Source: Boston Magazine / Our Man in Rome / Sept. 2006
Look at the face of him- he would turn milk sour.
Done a runner like the coward that he is. Divine Justice is His.!
De-Frock and prosecute the lot of them no matter how old they are. They a complete disgrace to Mankind, The church and Humanity as well as Ireland.
He is out feeding the homeless on the streets of Fort Lauderdale, taking the money out of his secret stache and of course sleeping on a peice of cardboard beside a dumpster. And the homless are hearing his confession and he is begging for forgiveness. Yeah, right Or is he sitting at that bar "Tropics" in Wilton Manors , Florida where all the other rich roman catholic priests, monsignors and bishops spend their retirement money. the poor things.
Good grief! Can you imagine having an ex-Bishop hiding in your attic? An Irish one at that.
is anyone surprised by this ? I do not think so..
This cowardly creep should be arrested on arrival at any Irish airport and questioned under caution for his failure to report serious crimes between the period 2006 and 2009 in Cloyne. 2006 is the period when it became a criminal offence not to report such events which left a child in danger. A warrant could be and should be issued for his arrest. I suspect he is aware of this possibility which is why he is hiding.
In the jargon of the Old West of the USA, "Bounty Hunters" were hired by towns to bring outstanding criminals in, "Dead or Alive." Now, I am not suggesting that any physical harms comes to the dear bishop of Cloyne, but I am suggesting that a "Bounty be placed on his head," for any information that leads to the discovery of his whereabouts. Make some one feel like they've won the Irish Lottery! Someone knows where to find Bishop Magee. Make it worthy his or her's time and resources to reveal his whereabouts.
