The Cliffs of Moher Visitor’s Center and North Clare Fine Gael councillor Martin Conway have asked Facebook to remove photographs of a daredevil stunt on the cliffs.

They fear that it could encourage visitors to behave in a similar manner.

Photographs of people cycling on a ledge, no more than 3-foot-wide, along the Cliffs of Moher (700-feet high) have been condemned as “foolhardy” and “idiotic”. The cyclists completed the dare devil stunt with no safety equipment and could have very easily plunged into the sea.

Katherine Webster, the director of the Cliffs of Moher visitor experience said “I believe there is a lot of confusion among Facebook users and some of the fans of the other page have connected to it mistaking it for the official page.”

Hans Rey and Steve Peat are the two men photographed. The series of photos show the two mountain bikers cycling along a 65-foot stretch of the cliffs back in 2006. Since completing the stunt both cyclists have warned others against attempting it.

John Lawless, the administrator for the Facebook page in question did not comment on whether the photographs would be removed from the page.

At least he's wearing his helmet. Good Citizen!
PatricOKelley: Have you ridden on those arches? What a beautiful town Moab is. There's not a 600 ft drop to the Atlantic Ocean in Utah, though.
Looks like a typical day in Moab UT to me. :-)
"Stupid is as stupid does" .....
Oh yeah, we are stupid enough to do this, but nobody else attempt this. When I was visiting a few years back a woman was blown off the cliffs by the high winds a few days prior to my visit.
I wouldn't even walk on that ledge. I have been drenched by waves while standing on the top of the cliffs.
People have been swept off the Cliffs of Moher by rogue waves. The place is a natural wonder, not a place for stunts!
FOOLISH !!!! IF YOU WAN'T OUT GO THERE , A DEATH WISH .
