The man who set the Guinness World Record for plucking turkeys, thirty years ago, has retained his title.
Vincent Pilkington plucked a turkey in one minute and 30 seconds on RTE television on November 17, 1980. Despite several attempts by others, no one has improved the Cavan man’s time in the last three decades.
The 60-year-old’s record is still detailed in the 'Guinness World Records 2011'.
Pilkington's record is one of the longest-lasting in the book, which also says that he killed 100 turkeys in seven hours and 32 minutes on December 15, 1978.
U2 hold the record for the largest Internet audience for a live concert, when they streamed their concert at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena in California live on You Tube, which was watched by nearly 10 million people.
Another Irishman, John Maguire holds the record for most heads shaved in an hour when he shaved 60 heads in a charity event organized by the radio station Today Fm.
Irish comedian, Tommy Tiernan set the record last year for the longest stand-up comedy show when he performed for 36 hours and 15 minutes at a show in Galway.

100 turkey killed in 7 hrs. 32 minutes? Were they wild turkeys he had to go out and hunt for? Now that would be a fete.
