**This method of selection of a "new" pope is flawed, and until representatives of the laity take part in the decision process, there will be no real change.**--- And... how exactly do you think your flawed opinion should matter to a Church you don't belong to? --- Why don't you stick to offering 'advice' to whatever sect has the misfortune of listening to your never-ending, ultra-feminist/lesbian blathering?
The new Pope lived in an apartment in Buenos Aires and took the bus to work and also did his own cooking. Time will tell if he is progressive or just more of the same.
This method of selection of a "new" pope is flawed, and until representatives of the laity take part in the decision process, there will be no real change. As Paul Tillich pointed out in 1948 ("The Shaking of the Foundations"), "The new does not appear from a collection of the elements of the old that are still alive. 'Remember not the former things, neither consider the things of old,' says the prophet. 'Behold all things are become new,' says the apostle. Out of the death of the old the new arises." The '"saving new" breaks the power of the old and scandalous over memory and behavior; it is not, like Cardinal Dolan, impatient to continue with the same old, same old ways. Desire for new transparency and new inclusiveness have already arisen in the people, but the old cardinals are not likely to envision anything that new.
Every Cardinal needs a spokesperson to deal with the press, a maid to do the cooking, several house attendants to make the beds, wash the dishes and clothes, shovel the walkway and shine the shoes while the Cardinals contemplate how much they will pay in restitution to those that were abused and whom they will select to lead them as Pope.
Paddy Power is a more authoritative punddit !!
