Do you know an Irish woman who deserves to be acknowledged for the outstanding work she does throughout the year? We’re sure you do and we want to hear from you.

The Irish Voice newspaper, in conjunction with IrishCentral.com and Irish America magazine is pleased to announce the second annual “50 Most Influential Women.”

Last year 50 women from all corners of the U.S. with various different skill sets were honored at a swag affair at the residence of the Irish Consulate General to New York, Niall Burgess.

The 50 Most Influential Women was created in 2008 to honor and highlight those Irish American women who have made a name for themselves in the corporate sphere, the local business world and the community.

For the past 21 years, the Irish Voice and Irish America hosted the annual Wall Street 50, Business 100 and Top 100 Irish Americans, all of which continue to be flourishing undertakings.

Those honored at last years event included Emily Kernan Rafferty, president of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Anne Sweeney, president of Disney-ABC Television Group in the Corporate American category.

Anita Daly, President of Daly Communications, and Jacqueline Quinn, fashion designer and CEO of Quinn New York Inc., were among the most outstanding women in the Business category.

And making the Irish community proud were Celine Kennelly, Executive Director of the San Francisco Irish Immigration Pastoral Center and Charlotte Moore, co-founder and artistic director of the Irish Repertory Theatre.

If chosen, an honoree’s profile will be featured in a special June 17, 2009 issue of the Irish Voice chronicling the success of the 50 Irish American women. The profiles will also feature on this site. A special event will be held to celebrate the women’s successes the week of June 17.
