I was born and raised in Cambridge Ma. We had 6 churches, there was none of this. Because it was a very heavy Catholic Irish community. Most of the priest stayed till they passed away. We had a tight Irish Community. Everybody knew or was related to one another. How many of the readers here are active in the Catholic faith? my husband and myself are. Lets me kind to each other and see in the new year with a better outlook.

the fox guarding the hen house. Pls remember IC readers that the church is close to collapse in much of europe and EX cathoics are the second largest religion in the USA -10% of our 300 mil population, 33% of the number of living baptised catholics.........The bottom line is twofold.......First, remember that the pope hired a spinmaster from FAUX news, which is banned in canada and British airwaves for telling blatant lies. Second if you see the horror stories of what the popes people are saying in Eg England, you know they are utterly desperate. Finally if the word really gets out around all the world of what has already been discovered it will be like a nuclear bomb blast to teh credibility of the church......In the words of Dr. King who didnt know about the church horros but fought the baptist / evangelical hate of black people............FREE AT LAST FREE AT LAST, THANK GOD ALMIGHTY WE ARE FREE AT LAST- from Rome.

What do I think? It's a terrible choice, and clearly indicates that the Vatican's priorities have not changed one wit.
Also, it may be that the American reporter they've hired to do communications may be teaching them a trick or two: Release the bad news on Christmas Eve, or late on a Friday. No one will notice.
Right.

Anne Barrett Doyle, co-director of a watchdog group called Bishop Accountability, told The New York Times, “Reverend Oliver is a champion of accused priests, which obviously does not bode well for the job he will do as promoter of justice.”
The above quote by Anne Barrett Doyle says it all for me. If Fr Oliver is a champion of the priests who are accused of being abusers, then he is definitely not an advocate for those who have been abused. If the Pope was interested in the truth, he would admit his central role in allowing clergy sexual abuse of innocent children to flourish worldwide from the time he was head of the office that dealt with clergy sexual abuse cases, and since 2005 as Pope. Instead, the Pope is claiming diplomatic immunity, to protect himself from being made accountable. All cases need to be referred to the police for investigation. It seems that the Pope still does not understand that sexual abuse and complicity in sexual abuse are crimes.
