Thanks Niall for allowing my comment. Again I agree with Searlit that BC's tapes are confidential and should remain so. As for people in Northern Ireland fighting over religion, that is fiction to protect the royals. It is in actuality a fight very similar to the American Revolution; people who want to be free men similar to US citizens and those of the Republic of Ireland, or those who wish to be subservient commoners, albeit privileged "commoners" over the Irish whose land was confiscated. There is also a medical issue to be explored further. Some of the "Scots" who were put out of SW Scotland to make way for royal sheep grazing, came from clans who were constantly killing each other. This was documented on TDC some years back. These clans were dispersed to Northern Ireland, the Southern US and Australia. Where ever they went they continued their warring, killing ways and as it turns out many have an inherited neurological condition brought on by generations of food and nutrient deprivation. Northern Ireland's problem may well be caused by chromsome changes in SW Scotland brought on by food deprivation. Look to science for the real answer and then ask why these Scots were subjected to such food deprivation?
I don't think there are any Americans who want war in NI Searlit, after all look who helped with the accord. You must understand that is an IrishAmerican I am horrified at Boston College lying about confidentiality of the information.Freedom of the press is a sacrosanct right and part of that is protection of sources ,so if BC promises confidentiality it better damn well keep it's promise or absolutely no one will give any info in the future.IT IS NOT a RELIGIOUS THING!
I mean going after oral history tapes that are the protected property of the Boston College is stomping all over American rights, while at the same time causing great anxiety and fear back in NI about inflaming the ever present animosity leftover from the 'Troubles'. I realized my post was ambiguous once I hit comment. On the other hand, it doesn't hurt if someone has pause to think about the whole conflict, again. Maybe find a new perspective. The killing needs to stop, on both sides. Are you free, if you live your life obsessed about freedom or religion?
I take this to mean that my comment will not be shown. Am I correct?
I think Senator Chuck Schumer is a good guy and I agree with Searlit. Would the US open such an inquiry in England? Not a chance given the royals palavering with our pols and some billionaires. (We actually have some great billionaires Warren Buffet and Bill Gates and others.) This was a UK problem that went on for forty years always identified on American TV as an "Irish" problem. What happened in the "UK" would have never happened in any other part of the world without intervention. I saw on TV that the queen shed her first tear when she felt she would not get a new yacht at 92 million while so many English are in severe financial straits. William says his grandmother felt Ireland was a room she could not enter. As an American whose family fought the royals in the American Revolution, my response it "Too bad." Your grandmommy comes across either as as spoiled brat or an egotistical maniac out of touch with reality. When will these royals be put off welfare and required to get a job? We Americans are seeing clips of the royals every night on our TV leading into the royal celebration of the queen's 60 years of luxurious idleness. She didn't even have to go out and kill and main as her ancestors did. Thank you very much Senator Chuck Schumer.
Explain your meaning Searlit if you will.
These appear to be the people who don't want to see peace in NI.
Do a Nixon-disappear the info!
