How much are they charging now to view the Book? I had a friend a couple of years back who paid 10 euros for a glimpse of the Book from behind four or five rows of people. She was hurried thru, didn't get a chance to view the Book and the final insult was that Trinity College had the gall to ask for donations as the people left the viewing area. Rememeber they had already paid 10 bucks. In a country of much unchallenged privilege and corruption Trinity College exists totally without scrutiny. It occupies prime real estate in the center of Dublin tax-free. It has quite dubious rights to house the Book of Kells, but it certainly cashes in big time from it. It is adjacent to several working-class areas but has never made the slightest effort to put on courses for promising students from those neighborhoods or offer them grants to study.
