I came to Ireland as a legally working immigrant and have done so without ever going on the dole for more than 7 years and I still maintain my job to this day. I have nothing against asylum seekers as they all have their reasons, and if you check the statistics, asylum seekers comprise of both black and white folk from all over the world. What I have a problem with is black people being targeted because of skin color. I guess it is easy to pick us out coz of our color. That is the only freakin' reason. awoken32, why haven't you picked on travelers from Bulgaria who are in Dublin? Its strange that its only the Nigerians who are complaining about racism in Ireland dont you think?? For example we have thousands of hard working respectable polish here who respect our traditions and contribute to the country---as any of us would be expected to do if we immigrated to another country. There are Chinese, Indians, Americans, Spanish etc etc living here as well with no problems to speak of. I have several black friends who are English of Jamaican extraction and as far as i know they dont have problems in this country. But , the difference is that the Nigerians have been caught out so many times running scams here as well as false asylum claims and they are now being seen as scroungers who use and abuse the system. There has been a lot of bad press about them here especially the Pamela Izevbekhai case that cost the Irish taxpayer over a million to deport her when it was found she lied all the way about her claim for asylum. They immediately use the race card when things are not going their way.

Awoken32, I like the fact that you are fighting for indigenous Irish people and culture. Ironically, non of my Irish workmates have a good command of Gaeilge. I speak 2 indigenous African languages, thats culture right there.
