Shouldn't that be "Malta's richest man'? Ireland needs a system of taxation similar to America's. A scandalously high proportion of the nation's richest businessmen (I'm not talking about the Kings of Kilburn here) live abroad 'for tax purposes' and avoid paying their fair share of tax. Of course, they are frequently among the loudest about their love of country and usually have a few conspicuous pet charities they donate to. But do such people really merit the term 'Irish'? I don't think so.
I agree. What evidence specifically does he have that things have economically turned a corner in Eire? It's the same in the USA -- the powers-that-be (who only have their own political benefit in mind) keep saying 'It's getting better! It's getting better!' and yet no one out there is feeling or thinking it. Where are the jobs? Not a single net job has been added for over a year, now.
im irish and live in chicago but all i can say is Ireland has not seen anything yet.We are 4 years in recession here in the USA and their is no light at the end of the tunnel yet
Just because Denis Tax Exile I love Ireland but its not getting one Godscursed nickel of my shagging loot O Brien says the worst of the Irish Recession is over does sadly not make it so. There is plenty of bottom there yet.
