@Fran Connor - You ALREADY pay for them in higher health provider costs every time you go or pay an insurance premium. Hospital emergency rooms do not turn people away, they just pass the cost of that care on to their paying customers. The ACA tries to mitigate some of that to reduce the cost to you. And no matter what Roberts said, it is not a tax on anyone, just a penalty for people who can afford health insurance but instead show up at the emergency room expecting free care! I know this because Mitt Romney told me so when he was governor and again yesterday. The GOP Governors who refuse the fully paid-for increase in medicaid are the REAL death panel condemning millions of poor in their states to continue using the emergency room to compensate for a lack of preventative care. Medicare for all would have been better but the ACA is a step in the right directon.

Actually Fran Connor it works just fine. As an American living in Europe my healthcare is a lot better and more comprehensive than anything you have. I can guarantee that!!!! But I am sure you know better seeing you have probably never even been to Europe but you know you are right because you heard it on Fox News. When are Americans going to wake up and stop being "sheepeople" to the conservatives of our country who don't give a hoot about the ordinary working person!!??

Fran Connor -The UK's NHS works just fine. All we need to do now is keep out the American 'carpetbaggers' who want to 'improve' it!
The USA is an international pariah in the way it neglects its citizens' care.

Eschetic - I'm so glad we'll now be paying for illegal aliens health care! And that we'll be joining Europe with a civilized health care system! By the way, how's that working out for the Europeans?

Bill O'Reilly is an ignorant schmock! He must be the child of an American tourist from Alabama. Not only is he ignorant, he is a bully and an acknowledged sex pest. Par for the course for a FOX employee?

Four more years of the end justifying the means, win at all cost no matter what tactics, for those in the cause of redistribution of wealth/social justice/theft are morally superior, or at least that is what they tell me as they attempt to rob me pf my freedom.

"Bull"O'Reilly cannot apologise for his hissy fit it would offend the Godlike stature he believes that he possesses. Social justice won the day and now we will have 4 more years.

I was disappointed that Bill went back on his word, what else is new! However it was not a total loss as he opened his mouth and, as usual, proved himself to be just what he had failed to acknowledge.

@Eschetic - As a former Republican (a'la William F. Buckley whose son was recently fired from the National Review for writing the truth about where the party was headed,) I salute your analysis and invite you to join the rest of us "ex-patriots" as voices for the left (which is the right of middle in the old political spectrum. The Democrats still welcome all comers regardless of the degree of progressive thought that they hold. Unlike the new republican party they have no litmus test or score card that you must take for admission. From Socialist to Blue-Dog, all reasonable viewpoints are given respect. The old Dixie-crats and the Birchers are in control of the party of my youth; I reject them and wish William F. was still with us to keep them in their place.

Even most of us Republicans learned as far back as the Nixon administration that you don't look for ethics or consistency from American "conservatives" (rule of thumb: liberals are lovers, conservatives are crooks) otherwise we would be touting the present long overdue limited health care reform as "ROMNEY-Care" since it is in essence the program introduced by our presumptive presidential nominee while Governor of the U.S. state of Massachusetts (before starting to pander to the extreme right for his current nomination). The genuinely sad thing is that current program being reviled by right wing clowns like O'Neill (he has *never* been a responsible journalist or even commentator) was a compromise for "conservatives" when we SHOULD have adopted the kind of universal coverage, single payer system the REST of the civilized world has long since worked the kinks out of. Ultimately we'll get there; we;re just a little slow. We were 60 years behind Europe on the abolition of slavery too.

The defenders of social justice and speaking truth to power seem to spend a lot of time demonizing the messengers of alternative thought. The playbook is well read and worn if you cannot defend your position scream about how morally bankrupt your opponent is, be they Fox news or the Supreme court, Now that roberts went along you are free to direct your bile at reporters, commentators, candidates, and me a common citizen. Thank you for the insults as it hardens my resolve and reassures me that I am right in my thinking.
