Fox pundit Bill O’Reilly has blamed the death of the youngest victim of the Aurora shooting on the cost of babysitters.
Speaking in the aftermath of the movie theater massacre that killed 12 people, O’Reilly questioned why children were at a midnight screening of the batman movie.
Veronica Moser-Sullivan (6) was killed during the midnight screening of "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises" early Friday in Aurora, Colorado. Her mother, Ashley Moser (25) was shot in the throat and the abdomen and remains in critical condition.
In a segment early on during O’Reilly’s show “The O’Reilly Factor” the host remarked, “I don’t want this to sound harsh to anybody, but the reason that these children were in the theater at midnight to see Batman was because their parents didn’t want to pay for babysitters because babysitters are expensive. So they take the children, the children fall asleep in the movie and the parent watches the movie. And the (six) year-old girl who’s dead – the mother of the girl was shot in the chest – you just heard her father.
“She survived. The story about this is that the mother, the father – and you heard the father – took the six year-old to the midnight movie. And they did that, as I explained, ‘cause they didn’t want to pay a babysitter, because babysitters are 15 bucks an hour, OK? OK? And there you go.”
The alleged shooter, James Holmes, a 24-year-old graduate student in neurosciences at the University of Colorado-Denver, was arraigned on Monday.

wtf The problem with O’Reilly is he forgets that there are some idiots out there who are not capable of getting the meaning of what he is saying, and the amount of time it would take to explain things in a way that they understand would take all day. By the way when someone says guns don’t kill the point they want to make is this, someone has to use the gun, so don’t try to blame the gun for the death. At the moment there are people out there saying this killer has social and mental problems and needs our help. Talk about trying to give him the death penalty is also upsetting many people, he should be tried, sentenced and have his sentence carried out within the next six months. But that would disappoint the layers and the news media, six years from now they will still be playing it up and the anti-gun people will still be trying to get their names in the media by talking about it. By the way how many of the anti-gun people own guns or have armed body guards protecting them, check it out you might be surprised.

Parents ought to reconsider taking kids to the movies, especially in those states with no bans on assault weapons commonly found today in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. Also I'm not sure why these demented, but damn smart killers, are not upgrading their weapons to bazookas and flame throwers. They would provide a much broader sweep of the audience.
snakehips | Jul 24, 2012, 04:08 PM EDT
Oh then Bill, you can't blame the crazed killer, you blame the parents who had their child out late to avoid babysitting costs. You are a bigger horse's arse than I thought. You ought to stick to womanizing and cheating on your spouse, you are more proficient at that than you are at journalism. You fool!!!!!
snakehips | Jul 24, 2012, 03:55 PM EDT
As usual O'Reilly is taken out of context when he was simply stating the obvious. Get a grip on reality. Oh I forgot Liberalism precludes reality.

When will this guy and Hannity leave television?
maryosullivan | Jul 24, 2012, 12:49 PM EDT
In addition to his other " talents" is O'Reilly now able to evaluate to actions of people he never of, never saw and I suspect will forget about when they lose their news worthiness?. Tell us, O'Reilly, of your responsibility in the murder of Dr. Tiller. By constantly referring to him as Tiller the Killer, you, who know all things, must have known you would set off someone who would and did murder Dr. Tiller. Also lets hear hear about the sexual harassment case brought against you by one of your employees, cost you a few million to cover that up, didn't it? Bet your wife was happy with that

When did bringing the very young children to the movies at any time? One couple had a 6 month old and 4 year old with them. Same with church and have you been to a library lately? Remember when you had to not speak above a whisper? Now it looks and sounds like a day care center. Can't afford a baby sitter but can afford the movie? This b--tard is crazy like a fox. He is just a mean rotten punk who didn't get what he believes he is worthy of. Some cases really do not require a trial. Put him in solitary for the rest of his life.
lokionline | Jul 24, 2012, 12:07 PM EDT
I don't often agree with the big O, but I have to admit, one of my first thoughts on hearing the age of some of the victims was what on earth were the parents thinking? There is a time in your life, regardless of your circumstances when you put the needs of your children ahead of your own wants or desires.
Claire2 | Jul 24, 2012, 12:03 PM EDT
What responsible parents expose their children to the violent scenes in movies such as this, even if they are at home! As for that guy with the baby, he is not exactly father of the year!! Not only did he leave his baby on the floor of the cinema, but he also left his partner and daughter behind as he escaped. Once outside, he got in his car and drove away!! Another man helped his family escape. When his partner rang him to come to the hospital her and their two childern, he PROPOSED marriage and she ACCEPTED!! She should have run a mile from the lily-livered coward!!!

Seems to me McNamara you should practice what you preach.
McNamara31 | Jul 24, 2012, 10:36 AM EDT
BulldogMania | borefield Maybe you should ask yourselves why you have to label (an attack) everyone with a different opinion as a "liberal left" or "typical liberal".This is the real damage that Fox style journalism has done to the American viewer. Their objective is to divide, vilify and conquer opinions rather than inform.
EileenOfarrell | Jul 24, 2012, 10:35 AM EDT
I'm glad to hear someone asking the question as to why a 6 year old was present at a midnight movie rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language. If the parents can't afford or can't find a babysitter, then they should stay at home with their child. With that said, the blame for this child's death is on the shooter.
borefield | Jul 24, 2012, 09:55 AM EDT
Liam3494, you are the sicko! Listen to what is being said. Only a liberal leftist would take the comments Bill O'Reilly made out of context, just like your friend on ABC, he was made walk it back and the network did apologise.. Baby sitters make double the minimum wage. Get over your bias, there is plenty to go around in a world already overflowing with hate.
BulldogMania | Jul 24, 2012, 09:39 AM EDT
I don't watch much TV, but saw his show after the shooting. That is NOT NOT NOT what he was saying. This is a typical liberal attempt to smear him. People were asking why there were so many young children in the theater that late at night...a fair question. He was explaining that with the cost of babysitters, parents take the children along dressed for bed. He said that most parents probably felt that this was the best solution AND the children would certainly be safe with the parents. He was NOT criticizing the parents.
Liam3494 | Jul 24, 2012, 09:31 AM EDT
He really is beyond contempt for his sick outbursts, I despair for journalism these days.
