She's a man-eater, she's a battle axe, she's Teflon. From The New York Post to Fox News’ Bill O'Reilly, two of the main Rupert Murdoch owned news agencies were clearly gunning for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton this week and were mystified when the task unraveled.
According to Mediaite, O’Reilly in particular was incensed with how little information he felt Clinton had provided to the House and Senate committees during her testimony on the attack in Benghazi, Libya, last September.
Stumped as to why Clinton remains popular in spite of the controversy, which has engulfed the right but has not found the same traction elsewhere, O'Reilly said her apparent deflections would make her an ideal spokesperson for Teflon, the non-stick utensils company.
O’Reilly complained that most of the questioning which Clinton faced was soft from both Republicans and Democrats, but he acknowledged there had been some intense moments with Republican leaders.
In particular Senator Ron Johnson had pressed Clinton to reveal why survivors of the Libya attack weren't interviewed before the administration’s initial public statement, provoking an angry response from the Secretary.
'With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans,' Clinton told him angrily. 'Whether it's because of a protest or whether a guy out for a walk decided to go kill some Americans, what difference, at this point, does it make?'
On his program O’Reilly shot back, 'It makes a huge difference!'
In spite of the controversy, which Republicans have pursued doggedly for months, the majority of the nation still gives Clinton high marks for her post as secretary of state. O’Reilly claimed that this meant most Americans were simply not holding Clinton accountable.
Clinton's polished performance led O’Reilly to predict she would be a 'formidable' candidate in 2016 if she runs, pointing to how frequently she 'dodged bullets' during her husband’s presidency.
O'Reilly concluded: 'If there is one politician in the country who should be advertising Teflon? It's Hillary Clinton.

I think that EphrainKibbey and Eschetic captured the objective reality of the situation. The Republicans like to play the 'blame game' and Fox is there ally in chief. Too bad they are not more interested and cooperative in fixing problems rather than trying to cast blame on others.

O'reilly is NOT the only one who would like a full explanation as to why the U.S. diplomats in Benghasi were not adquately protected. I who have honorably served 4 years in the Marine Corps also wish to know why the Administration (which now seeks strict gun control) supplied Mexican drug gangs with about 200 high powered rifles, including the weapon that murdered our Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

Ephraim, I like the way you think. What President Obama did in their joint interview this week sounded an awful lot like the annointing of a successor. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Joe Biden. But if he ran in '16, he would be one of the very oldest candidates ever. He does have a few too many miles for that. Twelve or, dare we hope? at least 16 years of Democratic leadership could help the US a lot. The GOP may consider us the spawn of hell, but I think even worse of them.

The GOP STILL doesn't get it! Liberals and independents ARE angry that four Americans were murdered in Bengazi just not angry that Rice said what the CIA told her she could say on TV. Only the GOP seems upset about that and it seems they are more upset about it than the actual murders or the criminals that did them. If the CIA thought it important to keep the extent of our knowledge on the matter under wraps, that is good enough for me. The investigation went on to find who did it and now we are working on "BIN LADENING" them. That works for me. The GOP attack the administration both for saying too much and for saying too little because they are desparate for things to use against Obama. The Rice attack balloon isn't flying any better than the the one they sent up about the Navy Seals Movie. What IS gaining traction is the realization that the four Americans died because the GOP house has failed to properly fund the State Department under this administration. The blood is on GOP hands and they can't wash it off by this red herring tactic. I thought Hillary handled them like a great future President would. I think that most of the criticism by the media reveals their mysoginistic tendencies very overtly. Get over it boys, the ladies are becoming very adept at playing in the big leagues and kicking your butts. Hillary 2016!

BrianO, do you know that George W Bush took the nation to war, resulting in the loss of thousands of American lives, for a premise that turned out to be completely fictitious?
BrianO | Jan 25, 2013, 03:34 PM EST
"What difference does it make" what difference does it make that four citizens where allowed to be murdered by their president and secretary of state. When you are at the top you are provided live satelite feeds of an embassy that is under siege, provided you will watch. But it would have been bad press before the election so they pretend to not know, let the people die, and have you flacks to provide cover for them. What does it matter.

She's married to the worst kind of bully and a disgrace as a husband , father and husband. Guess that's where she got her training. Her windfall profits on Cattle Futures is another story.

She did well at this hearing because she is a born liar.
Butch1 | Jan 25, 2013, 12:43 PM EST
Because she stood her ground to these Republican bullies in the Senate who are used to picking on women and that they expected her to crumble under their harsh interrogation style techniques O' Reilly, another bully thinks she is a "man-eater" and a "battle-axe?" Is that all he has? Those senators thought they were going to make her cry and they thought they were going to beat up on her. She brought out her sword and proceeded to chopped off each of their cojones and hand them back to them when she was finished with them. They didn't know what happened when she was finished. O'Rielly is not used to dealing with a strong woman who will fight him back with facts. He's a bully who likes to push women around and out shout them into submission with his loud voice interrupting them on his own show not giving them a chance to even speak. He wouldn't get away with that with Hillary Clinton, which is why he called her those names. This bully is afraid of a woman who is not afraid of him or other bullies like him. All they can do is call her names. Too bad. She showed them that they better come prepared to fight her with facts the next time they meet if they are going to question her.

Reviewing the commentary, I a find it intreresting that vthere is a recurring theme that suggests "geriatric" is evil. Don't recall when people who spent their lives contributing have been summarily disenfranchised. The Obama-Hillary sympathizers do themselves a disservice by proudly displaying a lack of maturity in this, a political discussion. They share with their heroes the same palpable arrogance that permeates this Administration. Wake up, kids half the lectorate didn't agree with you last November.
Eschetic | Jan 25, 2013, 12:03 PM EST
If ANYONE should be hired as a spokesman for Teflon (not that the noted Delaware/DuPont corporation would *want* such a know-nothing divisive association) it's the Murdoch clown O'Reilly! He does everything possible to undercut a Secretary of State to try to divert attention from the fact that ideological "friends" of his undoubtedly *contributed* to the unrest and deaths by producing and distributing the intentionally controversial anti-Islamic film which was initially given full credit for provoking the specific attacks in question. Thanks to this buffoon's hate based blathering and others of the same ilk, no one's talking about the very real damage their compatriots who think the ONLY path to greatness is to physically beat opponents into submission are doing to U.S. interests abroad. Time and again when fully informed of the options, the voters reject hate and ignorance based right wingers, but they keep finding naive new generations to infect with their poison.

Hillary gets and A for more travel and an F for Failing to protect our ambassadors. Her outburst was immature and made her look weak.

... Fox News military analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (ret.), not been known for his affection for progressives and liberals, praised Hillary Clinton’s performance in testifying about Benghazi. “I came away," peters said, "with deeper respect for Hillary Clinton’s bureaucratic lawyerly brilliance. I mean she was just tough and good and the Republicans looked like weenies” ... Boo hoo, poor O'Reilly. he's looking like a weenie too, except to his geriatric fans.
PhlutiePhan | Jan 25, 2013, 10:55 AM EST
Even Pravda stated (duh) that the illiterates in this country elected a president. Pravda then said that he was a Communist (duh). Now, we have the testimony of a "radical thespian" on the world stage with a profligate husband and O'Reilly is to blame. What a country!
stillloveusa1 | Jan 25, 2013, 10:51 AM EST
It's a shame and dangerous that so many Americans applaud the actions of the Obama's administration lies and failures to protect our people. Some hate the republicans because Obama want them to. What good is that for our country?? We are now the laughing stock of the world. You republican-haters are helping to destroy our nation. If you are so clever you would see what and who is clearly making our country weak and setup for destruction. Fox News tells it like it is. Take it or leave it. They always have democrats on their show speaking their opinoins. Be wise and tune in with an unbiased vision. You will learn some truths if you will allow yourselves.

We must agree with good 'ole Billmouth-piece for sweet Rubert Murdock, whose reporters hack the phones of members of parliment, trying to corner the British market in media control, the puppet-master of public opinion.Pretty clear the far-right are already worried Hilliary will run for President, so starting the slur process bright and early.
wjb1tex | Jan 25, 2013, 10:28 AM EST
I am not a fan of O'Reilly ( except for his historical novels ) I think Clinton dodged the questions. "What does it matter at this point-----" when testifying before a committee charged with finding out what happened doesn't pass the smell test.
CavanAncestor | Jan 25, 2013, 10:23 AM EST
This is clearly an award winning Administration, the President a Nobel winner for simply getting elected. Hilary should (a shoe-in for Best Actress next year. Admittedly not always an O'Reilly fan, he's right on here. The adolescent comment below adds nothing to the discussion. Her record as Secretary of State, a consolation prize from BOH may rival her boss' for gallons of aviation fuel consumed but little else. I'd welcome some citations of treaties negotaited, diplomatic coups, etc. Even Warren Christopher got more done if that's possible.

Pathological Liars have certain "Tells" that indicate when they are trapped. Look at the tapes again. You will hear a definite rise in pitch of voice, a false indignancy
CitizenWhy | Jan 25, 2013, 09:52 AM EST
You may be a fan of O'Reilly but the wide consensus is that Hilary did a fine job and the Republican critics do not know what they are talking about. O'Reilly may be a hero to the Geriatric Indignation Brigade but he is incr4easingly coming across as a caricature of himself, and a symbol of his aggressively ignorant fans.
