In the wake of the recent and tragic murder-suicide by Kansas City Chiefs football player Jovan Belcher, Bill O’Reilly responded to sportscaster Bob Costas’ views on gun control.

O’Reilly spoke about gun control issues in America as part of his ‘Talking Points’ segment on his FOX News Channel program ‘The O’Reilly Factor.’

O’Reilly was prompted by Bob Costas, who referenced a recent Kansas City sports writer who called for more gun control while he was presenting on ‘Sunday Night Football.’

O’Reilly stood firm with his belief that gun-control needs just that in America - control. He added that the right to bear arms is guaranteed in the Constitution.

However, he believes punishment for gun crimes needs to be fixed. “All gun crimes in America should be federalized and that includes illegal possession," said O’Reilly.

"There should be mandatory federal prison time for any person convicted of having a gun illegally, and if you commit a crime with a gun, that mandatory should be ten years."

Speaking to the tragedy of Jovan Belcher, O’Reilly said, "There will always be people like Mr. Belcher who lose control and you cannot disarm the entire American population to combat madness.”

There is more need for gun control now than ever before. Start by disarming criminals who use their weapons to commit crine. But do NOT take guns away from law-abiding citizens who have a Constitutional right to bear arms. At the federal level, the operation called Fast and Furious put a supstantial amount of high powered rifles into the hands of Mexican drug dealers. Instead of enabling criminals to commit deadly crimes, the feds should help the law enforcement agencies of that country to combat lawlessness.
Give Texas back to the Mexicans that will fix the immigration problem. I see O'Bully (by his own words)thinks "Chritianity is a philosophy and not a religion" at last he agrees with us Atheists
Hey exmarine54, you sure don't sound like one. We are a very violent society, what with hundreds of murders, rapes, and home invasions committed every day. If a man is so cowardly that he fails to protect his wife and family, and lays on the floor in the fetal position screaming for help, then he should not call himself a man. As for calling the Police, good luck with that. I spent twenty years on patrol on the mean streets of NY. and not once did I get there in time to save someone, just pick up the pieces. Grow up man, get yourself a weapon, it is your constitutional right to do so.
He is spot on here
I think O'Reilly has something there: lets try Jovan Belcher's body and put the carcass in jail for at least O'Reilly's ten year term, for sure, yes? I'm sure his victim's family certainly strongly believes in the constitutional right to bear arms....I still wonder when all the Neanderthals like O'Reilly ever wake up to how most countries dont allow the bearing of arms like this country....and??? here's home that Texas secedes from the USA,,,i wouldnt miss those rednecks and their trucks with rifles in the cab one little iota...and hopefully mr o'reilly lives in Texas....or at least lives over one underdiscovered SINK HOLE.....
If thr Republicans could lighten up on a few issues, like abortion, for one, a bit more sway on helping the needy, and, quit helping the super rich from dodging the tax man, then with that alone, plus their stand on gun freedom, they would get millions of converts to the GOP,millions, oh, and Isreal would have to pay its' own way.
Bull!! O'Bully came from a middle class family
I like O’Reilly because he came from the streets and made something of himself. I like him because he's Irish (descent). But....there isn't much I agree with him on about politics. This just happen to be one of the few things I totally agree with O’Reilly on.
