Bill O'Reilly is backing a bereaved father's bid to sue a Church who picketed his son's funeral
Albert Snyder is suing the Westboro Baptist Church and its pastor, Fred Phelps, for picketing his son's funeral after he had been killed in Iraq.
But Snyder said he couldn't afford the legal fees which is where O'Reilly stepped in.
Talking on his show last night, O'Reilly offered Snyder $16,000 out of his own pocket to pay for the case.
O'Reilly said he fully backs Snyder and will will pick up the tab for the appeals that have been ordered by a federal court.
Snyder's son, Matthew from Maryland, was a Marine who died in the line of duty last year.
After O'Reilly's generous offer, Snyder received over 4,000 calls and emails also offering monetary support.
A federal court ruled that Snyder must pay the court costs of the Westboro Baptist Church, who he sued for protesting his son's funeral.
Westboro is infamous for protesting the funerals of American servicemen with signs saying God killed the soldiers because of homosexuality.

Fair and balanced, which is more than I can say for this lefty bunch.

Tis one of the kinder things Mr. O'Reilly has done.

Yeah, that Bill O'Reilly is one great guy. $16,000 is what percentage of $10,000,000. Remember he coughed up $10,000,000 to Andrea Macris (sp.?) who accused Bill O'Reilly of sexual harrassment, including some non-family friendly phone sex stuff. You can look it up. $10,000,000 is the last figure I heard for his yearly income. He is just shy of walking on water. Suck on that, righty.

I agree with Michaelvona lets just get rid of all organized religion and go back to basics. You, your spirit and your God, end of story

I agree that "religion" and "church" need renovation. Faith is the issue and there is NO room for judgement in true Faith. We are all in need of forgiveness, whatever our sins....

if this would have been a kennedy or some other liberal offering the money (which i seriously doubt), you would have been kissing their feet and singing their praises to the world. since it was oreilly, all you can say is "big hearted talk show host coughs up $16k". it sounds as if you are being more facetious than honest in your "praise". or are you siding with the minister? given the chance i would kick those protesters "chistians" asses up one side of the street and down the other.

As a resident of Pennsylvania, our local media has been filled with news about this story and the plight of Albert Snyder. I viewed the contemptuous behavior of these 'so called' Christians protesting outside of the church where Mr. Snyder's son's funeral was being held. I just don't get it. And Fred Phelps, he is such an arrogant person - how he can call himself a minister of God is beyond me. I commend Bill O'Reilly for his generosity and support of the Snyder family. I can add the people of Pennsylvania support the Snyder family as well.

I attended the funeral of this fine young man. It was awful to see this! I applaud Al for continuing the fight! And a HUGE thank you to Bill O'Reilly for helping with this! This will allow Al to continue his fight to the Supreme Court!

I don't have many reasons to praise O'Reilly, but I certainly will do so for this.

I never listened to Bill O'Reilly much, but there is good in everyone. Thanks, Mr. O'Reilly, from a liberal Christian who thinks that the Westboro church is from the Devil and should be exposed for what it is and prosecuted for hate crimes. My father and brother are veterans and thank you too.
