Irish American George Clooney is not just an ardent supporter of President Obama, he's actually a friend.

That fact became clear during the President’s interview with Entertainment Tonight this week, where he discussed his friendship with Clooney, whom he called a 'wonderful guy.'

'The truth is we got to know each other because of a substantive issue,' Obama said. 'He is a terrific advocate on behalf of the people of Darfur, and to the people of Sudan who've been brutalized for a long time. And so when I was a senator - this was well before I was president - that was an issue that I was working together on a bipartisan basis, and George, who had traveled there, done documentaries there, and was very well-informed, came to testify in Congress. And so we got to know each other, and he is a good man, and a good friend.'

According to the Huffington Post, the President praised Clooney's humanitarian work, and noted the effect the actor's star power had on members of his White House staff.

'I will say that the couple of times he's come to the White House, I notice that the staff suddenly is circling around my office,' he said. 'They've got memos they need to make sure I see right away.'

Michelle Obama joked that she thinks it's a 'conspiracy" that she's never around when Clooney comes to town.

'Michelle is always frustrated because a lot of the events that George has been involved in, for some reason, she has something else going on,' the President added.

Clooney has been a deeply committed fundraiser for the Obama campaign throughout the 2012 election cycle, hosting an event at his Los Angeles home in May that raked in $15 million for the President's reelection campaign.

Clooney will also headline an Obama fundraiser in Geneva, Switzerland later this month. Tickets for the event start at $1,000 a person.

Doing a little pandering to the Hollyweird liberal elete are you Barack.
So glad obama can rub elbows with the 99% ers like clooney, he's just a regular guy running a fund raiser for a $1000 a pop, a real man of the people. so Michele is frustrated and wants a face to face with Clooney, ah well, life is hard.
Quite a pair of good compassionate men, I would say.
Clooney looks good - nobody said he has anything in his hat holder

An interesting article - thanks. It is good that we have commenters like Mohawker as it reminds the rest of us just what this president has had to deal with in congress. The unprecidented HATRED is truly revealing. It shows the world that RACISM is very alive and well. Hopefully it also inspires the rest of the world to work that much harder toward its irradication.
Mohawker and the rest really have it right !!
Here are two losers patting each other on their backs .If clooney is indeed of Irish heritage his connection must be his relatives must have owned a few obamas back when you could . How much does it cost for an obama nowadays anyhow ? My thought is too much .Besides he's not even born in America and has no legitimate claim to the presidency of our Great Nation . So in other words clooney should buy him for a gardener .
a wonderful friend -- instead of him hobnobbing with fancy hollywood he should get his act together that is for sure -- i think it is a little bit to late for that
.............................good ACTORS
Clooney is a good actor. So is 'Bama. So what does that tell you?
George Clooney, despite his being a Hollywood liberal, is actually doing good by keeping up the pressure on President Obama to, in turn, keep the pressure on the leaders in Darfur. It is nice to know that there are some out there in La La Land that care more for the poor and the destitute than just their own bottom line.
