The tragedy of Northern Ireland is: Why are so many of it's citizens prepared to support one side against the other, and to insist that if 'right is not might' then it will be if a gun or weapon is produced or violence used. The fact is (and it needs to be said) all the squabbles that have divided N.I. during the last 75 years are 'petty squabbles'. Both Protestant and Catholic appear to have lost sight of the fact that no matter what the insult, the provocation or the cause it should be settled peacefully and with good spirit on both sides. I for one would like to see The Orange Order Parades banned, I would like to see the end suburban housing areas classed as pro-Protestant or pro-Catholic, and the flag waving on both sides got to stop. The IRA are a disgrace and have shamed Ireland Green reputation for far too long, if they and there splinter groups would voluntarily disband Northern Ireland would be a lot better off without them. The killing of any Police Officer North and South cannot be tolerated and, essentially what I am saying is. Prostestants and Catholics MUST live together side by side in peace, trust and friendship. I see a recent poll said only 17% of the N.I. population would support Union, if it was not for the IRA ghastly mistakes and blunders this may well have been a 52% vote for - 48% against vote. You cannot have gangsters with guns posing as politicians or portrayed as heroes, when all's said and done there lawbreaking criminals and a prison cell should be their fate. To a tourist New York and Chicago looks a much safer city than Belfast, and this PR disaster needs to be rectified.

Let me see if I have this right. The real ira leader was assassinated. Those who fired a volley at his funeral were arrested after an\ exhaustive manhunt. Now the real ira is turning in those involved in the killing of Detective Donohoe (including a relative of a senior real ira member) to the Garda. Just Fascinating.

Everybody knows that even though the dogs in the street know with 100% certaintly who carried out the murder, you still need a high degree of proof to get a conviction, otherwise you get the lefty socialist brigade playing the old well worn victim card accusing the police of brutality.
