George W. Bush should be prosecuted for his admissions in his memoir that “water boarding is not a form of torture,” according to American anti-war activist and left campaigner Cindy Sheehan.

Ms Sheehan made the comments in Dublin last night ahead of a public meeting Socialist MEP Joe Higgins about the “world wide collapse of capitalism”.

Comments in the new memoir by former US president George W Bush that water boarding is not torture showed he need to be prosecuted, she said.

“To admit he committed these things in writing shows he and his administration need to be prosecuted” she said.

The anti-war campaigner lost her eldest son, Specialist Casey Sheehan, during his service in the Iraq war in 2004.

According to Ms Sheehan, despite an unemployment crisis, people losing their homes and education being cut, the United States spent a trillion dollars a year on the military.

“Nothing had changed much around any of these issues even though there was a new administration who claimed to want to reduce troops,” she said.

“Not for me out of any sense of revenge but for the future. We have to hold these people accountable so these things happen, they are still happening,” she added.

You being anti-war woundedknee isn't the problem, that's your choice. I respect that. Only about 1% ever fight in any war. Not just everybody is cut out to handle it, very few in fact. You need to learn to have as much respect for the warrior that lays down his life & protects your safety, as you do for the Sheehans of the world. Be mad at the govt. that causes war. There is no draft anymore. All members of the military asked to defend their country, right or wrong. Honor them, Do not spit on what they stand for. The fact is Spec 4 Sheehan is not proud of his mother meeting with socialists, he died fighting against what his mother stands for.
Correct, maloney, I was never in the military. Just like most of the Chickenhawks who pushed our country into attacking Iraq. But unlike them I never supported sending young working-class kids 5000 miles to kill and be killed, to abuse and be abused.
All anti war activists enlist for a combat roll in the military. Yea right woundedknee. Obviously you were never in the military.
Quite right, maloney. I am certain that Specialist Sheehan would be proud of his mother, had he not been killed in action fighting in Bush & Blair's war.
Sheehan meets socialist. Her son would be proud.
