Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny is to launch a new online exhibition which features the 1921 Anglo-Irish Treaty as its centerpiece.

The new site, hosted by the National Archives of Ireland, will be formally launched by Kenny and Minister for Arts and Heritage Jimmy Deenihan on Wednesday.

The National Archives website will host the online exhibition as the Anglo-Irish treaty document is made available to the public for the first time.

The decision to publicly unveil the document was taken in recognition of the 90th anniversary of the negotiations which led to the signing of the Treaty in the early hours of Tuesday December 6th, 1921.

The Anglo-Irish Treaty was signed in the aftermath of the truce which ended the War of Independence and led to the establishment of the 26-county Irish Free State.
