Enjoying an adult beverage is one thing but ironically, all the stereotypes are borne from Americans falling around drunk on St. Patrick’s Day. The same can been seen in Ireland on the same day with the onslaught of tourists to Ireland - it’s Amateur Day ! I know we're not all saints and scholars but we do a better job than most !!
This is an insult to all those of Irish Heratige !
Rebelforce -have you not seen my numerous posts warning of an Irish backlash? Michelle O'Bama has made disparaging remarks about Irish politicians, parades are being cancelled ,What's next-Jobs Available ,Irish Need not apply!
this paper is having an identity crisis...
These are not the people who shop at Urban Outfitters. Objections may have changed the mind of Old navy,, a mainstream, mall based company. But Urban outfitters is deliberately edgy, with shops near major universities where St. Patrick's day is just a day to drink, of Irish heritage or not.
I've seen 'Irish Yoga' t-shirts featuring a drunken Irishman in various drunken poses in Irish Gift shops in Dublin! How can we claim offence if that's what the Irish are selling to tourists!? Pity no-one seems to get offended over a drink called an Irish Car-Bomb. Now that is something to be offended about, especially if you happen to be a victim of one. I'd rather be associated with alcohol than terrorism.
And not just apologise to the people of Ireland. But to the people of Cork too.
As usual, the forces of "Political Correctness" in America are conspicuously silent when bigots attack Catholics or the Irish. Where are all the liberal groups and all the liberal voices in the media who would be on this story like white on rice if a clothing store were defaming blacks, or Puerto Ricans or Jews or Moslems?
Main component of EVERY AOH hall-The Bar!
Are y'all surprised that Irish (being white) cannot legally be insulted? If the Irish were "of color" this would be front-page news and a lawsuit would be in the works. Nowadays if you are caucasian you are out of luck.
