American,Black people are just that, black so they celebrate Black history. Youre American celebrating the history of your dead irish relatives. Theres a difference plus the irish are p1ssheads. They drink far too much so the stereotype fits and until responsible drinking habits become the norm in Ireland then that stereotype till not become part of history rather than how it actually is. So the A.O.H was formed to protect priests? Maybe you should now be trying to protect and help those abused by those very priests.
NYNighthawk, youve just highlighted another difference between Irish and 'Irish' Americans! Well done!
I'm pleased to see the AOH fighting this blatant racism of the Irish but now it is time for the Irish people to prove such comments are not true. Imagine there was no drinking at any St. Patrick's Day Parade and immediately after the event- we held a community blood drive or food drive for other ethnic groups. The Irish would be considered true leaders and be an example for others to emulate. The reality though is some of those comments made about us are still too true!
Gaelphoncán, Sure its all just a bit of a laugh! At least you seem to have a bit of a sense of humour which is sadly lacking on this site. Im a humanist with a respect for the pagan traditions of my country and the christians ones too to a certain extent. I have less time for catholicism and people blindly living their lives by a book that was written about life 2000 years ago. Why is it that the protestant faiths seem to be more accepting of people regardless of their gender or sexuality?
Yeah, I know, I meant to write 'ya cheeky fecker'.
A Chiara, a ghirseach, is a Pheadairín, a mhic bhig. Ye just like winding up us Paddyanks for badness - yer names should be read out at mass, ye pair of pagans. Wind your neck in, a Pheadairín Uasail, ye cheeky fecker. I know what 'paps' are and I can tell you they're not wanted on the Shankill (Paps out! God save the Queen!). :-P
Sirp, youre right! Sometimes I crack an aul joke and then I realise that only about 4 people on here would get it because the rest are Americans and our sense of humour is completely different.
It has been so long since anyone has thought about the religious aspect of "Saint" Patricks Day. Over the years the day has evolved in to a day for an excuse to overindulge and marketers make money. If people stopped to think about our Saint Patrick and the church view, more than likely we'd have a whole set of people trying to get the day banned completely. And to Murph 46, the "Irish need not apply" was very popular in the states at one time. Rebelforce, I agree.
You can't even say T*TS.I bet they don't know what paps are.tee hee
Y
@Ciaradexy Sometimes it's good to say nothing.Do you notice how Georgie Boy is delighted with ya?Irish Americans don't do tongue in cheek or jokes. They do face value like a price tag.I will ya!! means YOU WILL to an American. To an Irish person it means NO!!.If you want to joke around go on to an Irish site.Otherwise they will see you as an idiot.Do you see Irish America wit on this site? All Americans have more t*ts than wits.
You be the judge, which headline is the most dishonest! GOP Rick Santorum is a danger to society. Ancient Order of Hibernians slams ‘drunks vomiting shamrocks’ merchandise
Is this 'Order' a joke? Seriously? Is it like the freemasons?
As both a division and county officer in the AOH, I am in agreement, however, I would think that anyone reporting on Irish matters should do their homework and realize that the national president of the AOH is SEAMUS Boyle and NOT Sean!
'Ancient Order of Hibernians'? Are you having a laugh??? Im guessing all of this crowd are pagans just like the real ancient hibernians!
