Ancestry.com to open new international headquarters in Dublin

The world’s largest family history resource service is to base its international operations at a new headquarters in Dublin.

The Ancestry.com business expects to create up to 35 jobs at its new Irish HQ.

With over two million paying subscribers, Ancestry.com is already the world’s largest such site.

The new headquarters for the company’s worldwide operations will be located at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay in Dublin from September.

The company already employs 15 staff in the city and will more than double that at the new office.

Dublin is a perfect fit for the facility according to Ancestry.com’s vice-president Olivier van Calster.

He said: “Ireland was chosen for a number of reasons, not least because of the great availability of talented people, but also because it is a country that has a long history of emigration and plays a significant role in the family history of people across the globe.”

The Irish government jobs minister Richard Bruton welcomed the decision.

He said: “Ancestry.com is a very welcome addition to Ireland’s growing cluster of online companies.”

Already acknowledged as the world’s largest online family history resource, Ancestry.com has added more than 10 billion records to the site over 15 years.

Users have created more than 34 million family trees.
